What They Do
Believ is a privately held electric vehicle (EV) charge point operator (CPO) that focuses on installing, operating, and maintaining publicly accessible EV charge points powered by 100% renewable energy. The company launched its operations in 2021, initially targeting local authorities to provide charging solutions for residents without home access. Over time, Believ has expanded its offerings to include fully funded propositions for businesses and landowners, positioning itself as one of the UK's best-funded CPOs with significant investments in growth and infrastructure (source: cbinsights.com). Their technology encompasses a range of charging speeds, from on-street units for overnight use to rapid and ultra-rapid hubs located in commercial sites and car parks (source: believ.com).
Projects & Track Record
Believ has undertaken several notable projects, including a £21 million initiative with Suffolk County Council, which is funded by a £5.3 million UK government LEVI bid and £16 million from Believ itself. This project aims to deliver a minimum of 2,100 on-street bollard units and over 400 car park rapid/ultra-rapid points by the end of 2026, with plans to scale to 6,000 total sockets starting in summer 2025 to serve 25% of households without driveways (source: cbinsights.com). Additionally, Believ has earned industry award nominations for its inclusive infrastructure projects in Newham and East London, and has collaborated with local councils to support public-fund-free installations (source: believ.com). Their partnerships with companies like Wallbox for fast-charging expansion and Virgin Media O2 for infrastructure development further highlight their commitment to enhancing EV charging accessibility across the UK (source: wallbox.com).
Recent Developments
In the past two years, Believ has made significant strides, including the announcement of a £300 million private funding commitment in 2025 aimed at deploying over 30,000 chargers across the UK. This funding is a collaborative effort with Liberty Global, Zouk Capital, and various banks, solidifying Believ's scalable model for EV infrastructure (source: gbnews.com). The company also won the Suffolk LEVI contract, marking a significant milestone as the first English authority to sign, with installations set to begin in summer 2025 (source: cbinsights.com). Furthermore, Believ achieved B Corporation certification in March 2025, demonstrating its commitment to social and environmental performance (source: bcorporation.net).
Working There
Believ offers a diverse range of roles across various departments, including engineering, construction, commercial, legal, HR, marketing, product design, and ESG coordination. The company is actively hiring for positions such as senior fullstack/backend developers, site reliability engineers, and business development roles, particularly in their new Leeds office alongside their London headquarters (source: believ.com). The company culture emphasizes collaboration, data-driven strategies, and a commitment to employee development, reflecting its rapid growth and ambition to become the UK's largest reliable operator in the EV charging sector (source: electroverse.com). Documented benefits include a commitment to 100% renewable energy, carbon offset programs, and community engagement initiatives (source: believ.com).
