We are looking for a hands-on Mechanical Engineering Technician to support the day-to-day operation and continuous improvement of our pilot production line.

This role is ideal for someone who is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and comfortable working directly with hardware, tools, and processes. You will be responsible for keeping the pilot line running smoothly, supporting builds, preparing materials, and helping identify opportunities to improve how we operate.

You'll work closely with engineers and technicians and be expected to take ownership of the line over time, both in running it and in helping others operate it effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily setup and operation of the pilot line across multiple process steps
  • Prepare and manage materials and consumables
  • Maintain readiness of equipment and workstations to support production runs
  • Execute repetitive and controlled processes with consistency and attention to detail
  • Assist in running the pilot line and progressively take on independent operation
  • Help train and support other technicians
  • Support development and execution of engineering experiments
  • Identify issues in process, setup, or materials before they become major problems
  • Provide a fresh perspective on pilot line processes and suggest practical improvements
  • Work closely with engineers to troubleshoot issues and implement process changes
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of hands-on technical experience in a lab, manufacturing, or engineering environment (or equivalent training)
  • Mechanically inclined with comfort using basic tools and equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow processes consistently
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic mechanical or process-related issues
  • Good communication skills and willingness to ask questions and provide input
  • Reliable and proactive in supporting team needs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on production lines, pilot lines, or lab-scale manufacturing
  • Hands-on experience in a machine shop environment (mill, lathe, basic fabrication)
  • Ability to machine simple parts and modify fixtures or tooling as needed
  • Exposure to automation systems (e.g., robotics, PLC-controlled equipment, or semi-automated production tools)
  • Experience supporting or running mechanical or functional tests
  • Basic CAD experience (e.g., SolidWorks) for simple fixture or part design
  • Experience building, modifying, or improving fixtures, jigs, and test setups
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings and basic documentation
