What They Do
Geowynd specializes in marine geotechnics and geoconsulting, primarily serving the offshore energy sector, particularly in offshore renewables. The company employs advanced smart data analytics to interpret and analyze geo-data from the seabed and sub-seabed, which is crucial for mitigating ground risks and optimizing foundation designs for offshore assets throughout their lifecycle (source: geowynd.com). Their core services encompass geo-data analytics, geological and geotechnical technology advice, smart site investigations, and advanced laboratory testing strategies, all aimed at ensuring safe design, installation, operation, and decommissioning of offshore wind projects (source: geowynd.com). Geowynd targets clients primarily in Europe, with significant potential for expansion through integration with Ocean Infinity's Armada robotic vessels, which enhance geophysical and geotechnical services using data and AI (source: rivieramm.com). This strategic positioning allows Geowynd to differentiate itself by offering innovative geosolutions for complex offshore challenges, leveraging Ocean Infinity's robotics to provide sustainable, data-driven services that set them apart from competitors in offshore wind foundation optimization (source: rivieramm.com).
Projects & Track Record
Geowynd's team has played a pivotal role in numerous offshore wind projects, contributing geotechnical expertise to various initiatives across Europe. Notable projects include an 8.4MW turbine project in the North Sea expected to commission in 2023, another similar project in the North Sea also slated for 2023, and a Baltic Sea project planned for 2027 (source: geowynd.com). Other significant projects involve an 8MW initiative in the Adriatic Sea with a commissioning date to be confirmed, an Irish Sea project set for 2030, and a 9.6MW project in the Taiwan Strait scheduled for 2025 (source: geowynd.com). The company has also been involved in various projects across the English Channel, including multiple 7MW and 8MW projects with commissioning dates ranging from 2023 to 2026, and North Sea projects with capacities of 8MW and 14MW planned for 2026/2027 (source: geowynd.com). Geowynd's geographic presence spans key offshore regions, including the North Sea, Baltic Sea, Adriatic Sea, Irish Sea, and English Channel, with global reach extending to the Taiwan Strait and Sea of Japan through project support (source: geowynd.com).
Recent Developments
In recent years, Geowynd has been significantly impacted by its acquisition by Ocean Infinity, which has allowed the company to integrate its geotechnics expertise into robotics for offshore renewables while maintaining its independent brand identity (source: rivieramm.com). This acquisition, announced around 2021, continues to be relevant as Geowynd enhances its service offerings through the integration of advanced technologies (source: offshore-energy.biz). Additionally, there have been changes in the company's directorship, with Michael James Rattley and Andrew Philip Galbraith resigning in 2025, reflecting ongoing adjustments within the leadership team (source: endole.co.uk). Despite these developments, no major contracts, funding rounds, or awards have been documented beyond the acquisition, indicating a focus on internal growth and operational stability (source: find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk).
Working There
Geowynd operates as a micro-sized firm with fewer than 10 employees, suggesting a close-knit team environment primarily focused on geotechnical engineering, geo-consulting, data analytics, and laboratory testing (source: endole.co.uk). The company is headquartered at 17 Grosvenor Street, London, which is likely the primary location for hiring, although there may be remote opportunities given the residence of some directors in Scotland (source: endole.co.uk). The culture at Geowynd is expected to be technical and project-oriented, supporting complex developments in offshore renewables, particularly following its acquisition by Ocean Infinity, which may provide expanded opportunities through integration with robotics and AI teams (source: geowynd.com). However, specific employee benefits or perks have not been publicly documented, indicating a focus on core operational activities rather than extensive employee programs (source: find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk).
