Job Description
With the ongoing Energy Transition, and the growing need of Power Electronics solution to support the power system network for System Strength and enabling Renewables integration. We are looking for a qualified and experienced Application Engineer / Specialist for Power Quality / FACTS applications. This position involves close interactions with both customers, EPCs and utilities in Australia, take led in technical discussion with the support from global/regional center of competence, develop/formulate wining strategies by differentiate our solutions from our competition. You have a passion for sustainable energy, and power electronics/converters, you are highly motivated with an outgoing personality and experienced with the ability to drive technical discussion in a clear and strategic manner.
This role will drive Power Quality Marketing and Sales growth for Grid Integration Business unit through your technical knowledge in Power System Analysis, Grid Code Compliance, and Power Electronics Solution across different segments, mainly utility and renewables. This includes he/she will provide technical solution support during all phases of sales, create value for customer through technical know-how, and Grid Code Compliance/System integration knowledge. This role also requires providing inputs towards GPQSS/Hub strategy for Power Quality in Australia.
How you'll make an impact
- You will lead the technical development of project specific PQ/FACTS solution for Utility, renewables and industry customers across Australia, assist the sales team with pre-sales support and actively promote and differentiate the solution against competition, oversee, or perform analytics and power system studies (load flows and transient dynamics studies) if required to determine the most suitable technical solutions to meet customer needs with the support from Global/Regional Competency center.
- You will follow and lead in discussion for future power system and grid code requirements, prepare and provide inputs to the development of base/standardized solutions for the Australia market across key segments together with Product Management, R&D, and Global/Regional Competency Centers, drive evaluation of potential new and existing technologies, and coordinate together with Product Management, Global Center of Competence, the introduction of new technology / system in the Australia Market, support and provide technical know-how for the tendering and execution teams for PQ/FACTS projects.
- You will establish and maintain long-term relationships with customers, EPCs, consultants, especially AEMO and TNSPs in Australia, to understand their needs and requirements, identify and manage potential risks related to technology, and grid code compliance, support the capture team and work closely with global/regional competency center to identify possible areas of improvement and optimization.
- You will support the product marketing, industry, segment marketing and strategic and tactical marketing plans to support the relevant organization, initiate, implement and reports market analysis and marketing activities, ensure the market is monitored by developing, maintaining efficient marketing tools and implementing coordinated marketing analyses and activities, participant in industry forms and conferences to promote new technologies and solutions.
- You will be responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background
- Master's in electrical engineering (preferably in Power Systems).
- 10 years of experience in tender/project work/ within FACTS or Power Electronics application for transmission applications.
- Experience of building and maintaining relationships with customers and key stakeholders (internal and external), customer focus and ability to gather information and convey technical conclusions to individuals in engineering, business, and related industries.
- Knowledge and experience in power electronics applications, preferably system design, calculations, analysis and simulations, some knowledge and experience from converter technology based on multilevel voltage source converter (VSC), knowledge of related engineering tools and software required to accomplish assigned tasks (PSSE, DigSilent Power Factory, PSCAD/EMTDC among others) and control systems, especially power plant control, and experiences in compliance to NER, GPS and R2 compliances will be advantage.
- Experience from commissioning and testing on site, ability to work to deadlines, ability to maintain an overview of entire projects/bids while continuing to attend the detailed technicalities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
