Job Description
We're building the future of electric mobility, and we need your engineering spark to help power it ⚡️
Zaptec powers your next adventure
We combine the latest tech with human-centered design to offer highly intuitive and efficient EV chargers that ensure easier access to personal electric transport.
This gives people the freedom and potential to travel into a more sustainable future. How neat is that?
Within just a few years, we've built our domestic market-leading position by supplying superior charging installations for housing co-ops and private homes alike.
As a Norwegian EV pioneer, our goals are aimed at bringing the best charging technology to the rest of the world. Are you up for this challenge?
What your day would look like
At Zaptec, we're growing our Mechanical Development team to support an expanding portfolio of products and new innovations. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll work on the development of our home charging solutions, at the heart of what we do.
You'll collaborate closely with colleagues across product, electronics and project roles to bring ideas to life. From early concepts to production-ready designs, you'll play an important role in shaping robust, reliable and scalable mechanical solutions.
In your day to day, you will:
- Design, model and develop mechanical components and assemblies using CAD tools.
- Support prototyping, testing and validation of new designs.
- Work closely with production and suppliers to ensure designs are fit for manufacturing.
- Identify and solve design and production challenges, staying close to real world use and manufacturing constraints.
- Contribute to technical documentation and ensure designs meet internal standards.
- Take part in design reviews, FMEA sessions and continuous improvement work.
This is a role where you'll get close to both the technical details and the bigger picture. You'll see how your work connects to real products used by thousands of people.
Is this you?
We're looking for someone who enjoys working hands on with mechanical design and takes pride in creating solutions that actually work in the real world.
You're curious and structured in how you approach your work, with a strong sense of ownership and follow through. You're motivated by understanding how things function, not just how they look in CAD, and you enjoy getting into the details when needed.
You're comfortable working independently, while also valuing collaboration and learning from those around you. You likely have a few years of experience in product development involving plastic parts and are ready to keep growing, both technically and professionally.
This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to develop their skills further and grow into a more senior role over time 😎
Personal skills we value
- You work in a structured and methodical way, and see things through to completion.
- You are curious and ask questions to truly understand problems.
- You enjoy getting hands on with designs, testing and improving them.
- You take ownership of your work and contribute to a positive team environment.
- You are a natural problem solver who keeps going when things do not work on the first try.
Skills required for this job
- Solid experience with 3D CAD tools, preferably with Siemens NX.
- Good understanding of mechanical engineering principles such as kinematics, friction and material strength.
- Experience with designing injection moulded plastic parts or die casted components for manufacturing.
- Ability to prototype, test and validate designs.
- Experience working with technical documentation such as drawings, specifications and test reports.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Bonus points if you have
- Basic understanding of electronics assemblies.
- Experience with thermal management in products with power electronics.
- Hands on experience with 3D printing.
- Experience working closely with production environments.
Join in! ☕️ Yes, we do spend a lot of time in front of our desks, but we also love coffee, conversations, nerdy talks, lunches and jokes. 🤡

Customer experience is the core of everything we do to provide a worry-free EV life.
We believe in our employees' uniqueness and the multidisciplinary way of working, and we work collaboratively toward a common goal.
