Your mission
As Resident Engineer - Electrical (OHL) in our Transmission & Distribution Department, you will contribute to our mission by leading and managing site supervision activities for Extra High Voltage (EHV) and High Voltage (HV) Overhead Transmission Line projects (400kV / 220kV / 132kV), ensuring technical compliance, construction quality, safety performance, and timely delivery of projects.
You will act as the key site representative, managing contractors, coordinating with clients, and ensuring project execution aligns with utility standards and contractual obligations.
Your key responsibilities
Project Leadership & Site Management
- Lead and manage electrical engineering activities for overhead transmission line projects.
- Oversee site supervision teams and contractor execution activities.
- Ensure project delivery meets schedule, budget, and quality targets.
- Review and monitor contractor construction programs and resources.
Technical Oversight
- Ensure construction activities comply with approved IFC drawings, specifications, and standards.
- Review and approve technical submittals, shop drawings, and method statements.
- Resolve technical issues related to transmission line construction.
Construction Supervision
- Supervise site activities related to:
- Tower foundation works
- Tower erection
- Conductor stringing
- OPGW installation
- Earthing systems
- Monitor contractor workmanship and compliance.
Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
- Review quality documentation and inspection reports.
- Identify and close Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
Health, Safety & Environment
- Ensure compliance with project HSE plans and procedures.
- Monitor contractor safety performance.
- Conduct site safety inspections and audits.
Client & Stakeholder Coordination
- Interface with clients, contractors, consultants, and utility authorities.
- Attend technical and progress meetings.
- Coordinate inspections, shutdowns, and energization approvals.
Commercial Administration
- Review and certify contractor progress claims.
- Verify quantities and variation orders.
- Support contractual and commercial evaluations.
Testing, Commissioning & Closeout
- Supervise testing and commissioning activities.
- Ensure final documentation and as-built submissions are completed.
- Support project handover and final acceptance.
We would love to hear from people with
- Extensive experience in EHV/HV overhead transmission line construction.
- Strong background in construction supervision consultancy projects.
- Proven experience in utility transmission infrastructure projects.
- Experience with UAE transmission utility projects.
Your qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 8 years in Resident Engineer / Site Leadership roles
- Experience in 400kV / 220kV / 132kV transmission line projects
- Experience with UAE utilities such as Abu Dhabi Transmission and Despatch Company, Abu Dhabi Distribution Company, and Dubai Electricity and Water Authority preferred
