Job Description

Boralex has been providing renewable and affordable energy for over 30 years. The Group, composed of more than 800 employees, operates renewable assets with an installed capacity of over 3 GW and is developing a project portfolio of 6.8 GW in wind, solar, and energy storage.

Reporting to the Senior Procurement Manager (BoP), you will organize and lead project procurements of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for wind, storage and solar energy projects. You will play an important role in:

  • Develop market knowledge and contribute to the establishment and maintenance of relationships with reputable EPC contractors.
  • Work with the legal, development, engineering, project management and construction teams on the preparation and optimization of project schedule, scope of work, contracting strategies and budget.
  • Lead the preparation of RFIs and RFPs for the BOP (Balance of Plant) in accordance with Boralex standards. Organize and manage the commercial and technical evaluation of contractors' proposals with a multidisciplinary team composed of specialists from engineering, construction, development, project management, finance and other disciplines.
  • Develop and negotiate commercial terms and exhibits of professional/engineering services and construction agreements.
  • Organize multidisciplinary teams for the negotiation of contractual agreements with contractors and obtain approvals from the various administrative bodies for the signing of contracts.
  • Assist in resolving any issues and disagreements with contractors during project implementation.
  • Lead processes with contractors to support Boralex's Corporate Social Responsibility strategy. Act as a Liaison between H&S team and procurement assuring all contract compliance with H&S standard; organize qualification of contractors and providers to Boralex H&S requirements.
  • Organise and document prequalification, evaluation, and approval process records, prepare reporting in support of internal review and approval processes, organise and lead contract execution processes.
  • Contribute to the development of the procurement function by providing ideas, feedback and requirements from his/her own area(s) of responsibility.
  • Work closely with the Senior Procurement Manager (BoP) to develop consistent approaches and processes, align strategies, and expand internal expertise and efficiency.
  • Other tasks that fall under the responsibilities of the procurement team.

To succeed in this position, you need

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in administration, finance, supply chain, engineering, construction-related disciplines, or equivalent combination of education or experience.
  • At least 10 years of experience in an industrial company, preferably in the renewable energy sector or construction industry, in roles of a proposal manager, commercial manager, procurement or supply chain manager, contracts manager, or equivalent position. Lesser or alternative experience may be considered in combination with demonstrated discipline expertise.
  • Experience in leading contract negotiations and managing contracts worth over CAD 10 million.
  • Experience in the execution of large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of key contract terms and risks and mitigations surrounding provision of professional services. Ability to rapidly analyse agreement terms and provide analysis and recommendations for key contracting positions.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in implementing cross-functional projects; ability to lead and guide stakeholder team outcomes.
  • Excellent project management skills; high degree of organisational skills; highly organised personal working habits.
  • High level of negotiation skills; demonstrated ability to be persuasive, negotiate, and obtain consensus.
  • Excellent command of the Microsoft suite.
  • Team player and ability to work effectively under pressure and prioritise multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent bilingualism; French is the working language in Québec.
  • Knowledge of English is required to analyze, negotiate and manage contracts and communications with international partners and suppliers.
