Responsible for ensuring that electronic products and network-enabled systems are correctly programmed, tested and released during manufacturing, from NPI through production. Leads and coordinates the test process in both PCBA and system-level products, including firmware reflashing, functional testing and operation of test systems and fixtures for products such as gateways, RF communication modules and network devices (e.g. EMR, GMR, LCS), ensuring each unit reaches the correct operating state before testing, and that the overall process runs in a stable and repeatable way. Works closely with design, production and quality teams to align test requirements, support NPI builds and resolve issues in production, maintaining control of the test environment, equipment and process.

Core Area of Responsibility/Accountability

  • Lead and manage the manufacturing test engineering team, providing technical direction, prioritization and support across reflashing, functional test and NPI activities, ensuring consistent execution and team development.
  • Oversee the execution of test processes at both PCBA and system level for network-enabled and RF-based products (e.g. gateways, communication modules and network devices), ensuring product validation aligns with design requirements and manufacturing expectations.
  • Ensure proper firmware programming and reflashing of PCBAs and electronic modules, validating versions and configurations before product assembly and test execution.
  • Define, implement and maintain test systems and fixtures used in manufacturing, including coordination with external suppliers when required, and ensure proper integration with production lines and test processes.
  • Ensure each unit reaches the correct operational state prior to functional test execution, maintaining control of system behavior and avoiding invalid or misleading test results.
  • Define and maintain the correct sequence between reflashing, system state, configuration and functional testing to ensure reliable and repeatable validation in production.
  • Support and lead NPI activities from a test engineering perspective, working closely with design teams to define test requirements, align system behavior and transition initial builds into stable and scalable production processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to firmware, system state, communication, test systems and integration, minimizing downtime and supporting yield improvement.
  • Analyze test results and production performance to identify trends, improve test reliability and drive continuous improvement of manufacturing processes.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams including design engineering, production, quality and supply chain to ensure alignment between product requirements, test processes and manufacturing execution.
  • Drive improvements in test architecture, coverage and reliability, ensuring that test processes remain efficient, scalable and aligned with product complexity.
  • Ensure proper validation, release and control of test scripts and processes used in production, including pilot builds and production readiness activities.
  • Work according to the I.M.S. (Integrated Management System) which includes ISO 9K, 18K, 14K, 27K, and 22301 as applicable

Required Experience

  • Ensure products are validated under correct system conditions prior to release.
  • Drive resolution of production issues related to firmware, system state, communication and test integration.
  • Maintain stability and reliability of manufacturing test processes across NPI and production.
  • Ensure alignment between test processes, product design and manufacturing execution.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing test engineering within high-volume production environments.
  • Hands-on experience with PCBA and system-level testing, including firmware reflashing and functional validation of electronic and network-enabled products.
  • Experience working with test systems and equipment for network and/or RF-based products (e.g. gateways, communication modules, network devices).
  • Experience supporting NPI, including product introduction, test validation and ramp to production.
  • Strong troubleshooting experience in manufacturing environments, resolving issues related to test systems, firmware, communication or product behavior.
  • Experience leading or coordinating engineering teams or technical groups in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with external suppliers for test systems or fixture development is a plus.
  • Experience with test software or automation tools (e.g. Python, LabVIEW, TestStand or similar) is preferred but not the primary focus of the role.

Required Abilities

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing test processes for electronic and network-enabled systems, including PCBA-level and system-level validation.
  • Solid experience working with firmware, including reflashing of PCBAs and electronic modules, as well as understanding how firmware, configuration and system behavior interact during production.
  • Experience working with test systems and equipment used to validate network and RF-based products (e.g. gateways, communication modules and network devices), including setup, integration and troubleshooting on production lines.
  • Practical knowledge of test fixtures, including definition, development and integration, as well as coordination with external suppliers when applicable.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in manufacturing environments, with ability to identify root cause of issues related to system state, configuration, communication or integration between hardware, firmware and test systems.
  • Experience working with common system interfaces such as Ethernet, API-based communication, RF tools and other methods used to interact with embedded systems during test and configuration.
  • Experience supporting NPI from a test engineering perspective, including defining test requirements, validating initial builds and transitioning processes into stable production.
  • Ability to lead and develop engineering teams, providing technical direction, prioritization and guidance in day-to-day manufacturing and NPI activities.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, working effectively with design, production, quality and suppliers to align test processes and product requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a production environment, balancing NPI activities, production support and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • English 80%
