Your mission

Tractebel Engineering B.V. is the Dutch affiliate of Tractebel which is a global engineering company delivering innovative solutions for energy, water, infrastructure and sustainable development. In The Netherlands, which is a key country for Tractebel, we are currently focused on initiatives and projects in providing decarbonisation and sustainability solutions with our deeply rooted engineering capabilities across the energy and healthcare sectors. These projects range from supporting the realization of research reactors, supporting existing powerplants, to the development of large scale NPP and Small and Modular Reactors. Tractebel is also actively engaged in the gas and energy sectors on projects related to Hydrogen, Battery Energy Storage Systems, Transmission and Distribution and Gas (Conventional and Renewable). These solutions are developed and delivered within the Business Area Gas, Energy and Nuclear (BAGEN).

In this framework, Tractebel is looking for a Business Development Manager to join our growing team in the Netherlands who is expected to embody the spirit of BAGEN in bringing our products and services to the Dutch energy sector with the Gas and Energy sectors (industrial hubs and port clusters) being the prime focus.

Attached to the Strategy, Business Development, and Innovation Department of BAGEN, you will play a key role in advising, developing, and implementing strategies for engaging clients, prospects, partners, and diverse stakeholders in the Dutch Gas, Energy, and Nuclear industries.

The Business Developer will work closely with key stakeholders within the BAGEN organisation to drive the company's growth initiatives.

Your key responsibilities

As the Business Development Manager for The Netherlands, your primary responsibility will be to drive growth and expand our presence in the Gas, Energy, and Nuclear business/industry sectors. You will be tasked with identifying new business opportunities, building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, and developing strategies to enhance our market position. Your role will involve close collaboration with various departments, including business streams, sales and project teams, as well as Métiers to ensure the successful implementation of business development initiatives. You will also be responsible for monitoring market trends, analyzing competitive landscapes, and providing insights to inform decision-making processes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Market and Competition Analysis

    • Monitor market trends and analyze competitive landscapes to identify opportunities and threats for the Dutch Gas, Energy, and Nuclear markets.
    • Present accurate and up-to-date datasets to the Business Area and Country Management for informed decision-making
    • Identify and pursue most relevant business opportunities in these sectors.
  • Account and Business Planning

    • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, partners, and industry associations.
    • Develop account plans for significant clients with the support of the Business Stream and Key Account Manager. The goal is to help understand and communicate clients' business needs and opportunities to internal stakeholders.
    • Map relationships with customers and track opportunities for engagement at various organizational levels.
    • Developing and executing business development strategies to achieve growth targets.
    • Collaborating with internal teams to ensure the successful implementation of business development initiatives.
    • The main driver is to prepare and train engineering teams' business acumen, ensuring intentional and purposeful business meetings with clients.
    • Facilitate key workshops and discussions with clients
    • Leverage and expand Tractebel's network to foster strategic partnerships and alliances.
  • End-to-end development of major opportunities

    • Develop and manage opportunity plans for significant business opportunities. Present opportunity plans to key management and operational teams for decision-making.
    • Focus should be on so-called 'Cathedral' opportunities from prospection to contract signature with a comprehensive view on Financial, Commercial, Environmental, Safety, Reputation, Technical risk. N.B.: Cathedral opportunities are large-scale endeavors and highly complex projects (e.g., projects with capex from several Million to Billions of euros): typical contract value in engineering bigger than 8 million €.
    • Prepare and deliver strategic messages for executive audiences.
    • Participating in drafting offers and defining budgets for these complex projects.
    • Driving innovation in delivering fully integrated technological solutions, anticipating client requests, and adapting to market and technological evolutions.
  • Brand visibility

    • Managing business development budgets for The Netherlands.
    • Ensuring visibility, thought leadership, and brand reputation of Tractebel in The Netherlands through participation as key Tractebel representative to sectorial associations (KIVI, VNO-NCW, FME, Bouwen Nederland).

  • Degree: Master of Science or Master in Industrial Sciences.
  • Experience: Over 10 years of experience in energy and industrial sectors
  • Business Acumen: Ability to understand clients' requirements and drive business proposals. Proven skill in business development and networking.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to synthesize complex topics, train presenters, and engage C-level audiences with compelling presentations. Ability to formulate recommendations to Business Management and ExCom with regards to strategic decisions
  • Autonomous & Resilient: Ability to work with wide autonomy (monthly reporting), manage multiple priorities, and remain effective under tight deadlines.
