Job Description
We are searching for a Commissioning Superintendent for Solar Energy Projects. This position is located in the field at the project site. The candidate must be willing and able to commute to and from the job site on a daily basis.
This is a field based position that works closely with the Project Management team to assist in managing the commissioning scope for the project. You will assist in assuring that the project is being constructed in accordance to the owner's contract.
Responsibilities/ Duties
- Directs solar commissioning personnel and/or subcontractors to achieve completion of the project
- Support the project team with planning and utilization of proper means and methods for activities
- Create and maintain commissioning documentation in accordance with contract requirements
- Assure that all work undertaken is within approved scope boundaries and is in full compliance
- Coordination with supplier testing & commissioning teams
- Identify testing required per project scope of work and ITP
- Communication with engineering parties to meet commissioning requirements
- Acts as an electrical consultant to supervisory and field personnel in the areas of, electrical circuits, power quality, switchgear installations, transmission lines, interconnect systems, and high voltage collection/distribution systems.
- Responsible for safe working conditions and safety procedures on the project, more particularly for specific Understands and enforces company, job site-specific, federal, and state safety regulations on site and discusses concerns with Project Manager.
- Assist Project Superintendent in communicating and negotiating with the owner regarding major project decisions.
- Compares actual costs to the job estimate for specific discipline and informs the Site Manager of cost over-runs and the utilization of company resources.
- Understands scope of work per the Identifies potential change orders and informs the Site Manager.
- Establish and maintain crew and equipment matrixes, comparing information back to established Work Plans and updating Operations Analysis as needed.
- May at times visit proposed project sites to support Estimating and Business Development.
- Become a project liaison with key community leaders and local landowners.
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities
- Experience with solar and/or wind construction.
- Ability to lead and coordinate own and others' actions, manage own time and manage personnel resources.
- Sensitivity to problems; ability to look ahead and tell or predict when something is wrong; able to revise and adapt plans as necessary.
- Ability to read and understand project specific documents including plans, schedules and specifications.
- Ability to keep records and prepare daily work and time reports.
- Experience with Procore.
- Ability to supervise the work of others and clearly communicate instructions to crew.
- Strong client relation skills.
Education/ Experience
- High School diploma required.
- Electrical engineering degree or equivalent experience.
