What They Do

BlueWave is a private renewable energy company that specializes in solar development, community solar subscriptions, and energy storage solutions. Founded in 2010, the company has evolved from its initial informal operations into a full-service developer, owner, and operator of solar farms and community solar platforms. Their technology focus includes agrivoltaics, which allows for dual-use of land for agriculture and solar energy, as well as emerging floatovoltaics. BlueWave's innovative approach integrates grid connectivity evaluations to minimize disruption to the environment while maximizing energy production (source: bluewave.energy).

Projects & Track Record

BlueWave has completed several notable projects, including a 4.2 MW agrivoltaic solar farm on a wild blueberry field in Rockport, Maine, which was sold to Navisun in March 2021. Additionally, their Community Solar Farm in Oxford produces enough energy to power 154 homes while offsetting 1,135 metric tons of CO2 annually. The company has also transformed the Sullivan's Ledge Superfund Site in New Bedford, Massachusetts, into a solar asset for the city. Furthermore, dual-use sites in Palmer and Dighton, Massachusetts, became operational in 2023, supporting crops and livestock while generating a combined 5.7 MWDC (source: prnewswire.com). Ongoing projects encompass over 1 GW of solar and storage across eight states, with significant developments in Massachusetts, New York, and New Jersey (source: bluewave.energy).

Recent Developments

In the past two years, BlueWave has announced several significant developments, including the operational launch of dual-use agrivoltaic projects in Palmer and Dighton, Massachusetts, which highlight their commitment to sustainable land use and farmer partnerships. The company appointed Patty DiOrio to lead its expanding solar and storage portfolio, reflecting its growth strategy in the renewable energy sector. BlueWave continues to develop gigawatts-scale solar and battery storage projects nationwide, maintaining its status as a B Corp recognized for governance excellence (source: prnewswire.com).
