Job Description

In this exciting new role, you will be a key player in our Substation Upgrades unit, supporting business growth driven by the I&C mandate. As a GIS Installation Supervisor, you will provide essential on-site leadership for Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) installation projects across the UK and Ireland. Your focus will be on ensuring project success through effective execution, strict adherence to Health, Safety, and Quality standards, and seamless coordination with all project stakeholders.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • 50% On-Site Execution & Technical Supervision
    • Lead, supervise, and coordinate all on-site Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) installation, assembly, and testing activities.
    • Act as the Project Manager's primary on-site representative, taking overall responsibility for the execution of site operations.
    • Plan daily and weekly site activities, allocating labor, plant, and equipment resources to meet project milestones.
    • Verify that all work is executed in accordance with approved engineering drawings, method statements, risk assessments, and technical standards.
    • Manage and monitor the performance, workmanship, and productivity of subcontractors and specialist service teams, taking corrective action as needed.
  • 30% HSEQ & Quality Management
    • Ensure strict compliance with all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements, site rules, and permit-to-work systems.
    • Champion a 'Zero Harm' safety culture, conducting regular safety observations and promoting best practices across the site team.
    • Implement and maintain Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), managing the closure of punch list items and compiling quality documentation for handover.
    • Conduct quality control checks to ensure workmanship meets Siemens Energy and customer standards.
  • 20% Stakeholder Coordination & Reporting
    • Maintain effective communication and act as the primary point of contact for the Project Manager, customer representatives, and internal stakeholders.
    • Coordinate interfaces between installation, commissioning, logistics, and quality teams to prevent delays and resolve site conflicts.
    • Identify, escalate, and support the resolution of on-site technical issues, non-conformances, material shortages, and schedule risks.
    • Prepare and maintain accurate site documentation, including daily progress reports, safety records, quality issues, and look-ahead plans.

What You Bring

  • Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent technical qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in a site management, supervision, or lead installation role on high-voltage substation projects, preferably involving GIS equipment.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and multi-disciplinary teams in a live construction or commissioning environment.
  • Certifications: Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) and Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS).
  • Strong technical expertise in high voltage electrical equipment, engineering drawings, and electrical safety.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and influencing skills.
  • Full UK Driving License
