Approximately 50-100 employees (source: linkedin.com). No public revenue figures are available as it is a privately held company.

What They Do

ISCC (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) is an independent certification system focused on verifying sustainability, traceability, and carbon reduction in supply chains. Unlike direct energy producers such as solar or wind farms, ISCC certifies various raw materials, including agricultural biomass, forestry products, biogenic waste, and recycled carbon materials. The main products and services include ISCC EU, ISCC PLUS, ISCC CORSIA, and ISCC CFC, all aimed at compliance with sustainability standards across various sectors (source: iscc-system.org). Target markets include EU-regulated biofuels, the chemical industry, plastics, and the food and feed market, with ISCC operating in over 100 countries.

Projects & Track Record

ISCC does not conduct projects itself but certifies numerous initiatives in the supply chain. Notable completed certifications include the first ISCC certification in 2010 and the certification of over 1,000 Canadian farmers by 2022. Other significant certifications include the renewable diesel production of a German biodiesel manufacturer from used cooking oil and a biodiesel processing facility in Southeast Asia (source: iscc-system.org). Current efforts focus on CORSIA SAF certifications, with 14 CORSIA certificates and 138 for HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil) up to the latest audits.

Recent Developments

In the past two years, ISCC has introduced new product logos and a licensing system, formed technical committees for circular economy and sustainable aviation fuels, and gained recognition for biofuels in Queensland (Australia). Additionally, ISCC supports compliance with the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) with appropriate tools (source: iscc-system.org). No major acquisitions or mergers have been reported, as ISCC operates under an association structure that ensures continuous development and recognition by the EU.

Working There

ISCC offers positions primarily in certification, technical standards, system monitoring, and training. The main departments include technical committees, accreditation support, and greenhouse gas calculation verification. Hiring mainly occurs at the headquarters in Cologne, with international auditor positions also available, as ISCC operates in over 130 countries (source: linkedin.com). The company culture emphasizes collaboration among various stakeholders and transparency in the certification processes.
