Job Description
The Data Scientist acts an embedded analytical partner within Digital product teams, serving as the data champion for their assigned domain(s). The role is accountable for delivering high-quality insights, owning KPIs and dashboards, and enabling evidence-based decision-making across Digital initiatives.
While working closely with product, engineering and leadership teams on day-to-day delivery, the role operates within central Data & Analytics standards, governance, and tooling to ensure consistency, quality, and scalability across Digital.
This is a permanent role with long-term ownership of metrics, insight capability, and analytical maturity within Digital.
What you'll be doing
Insight & Analysis
- Analyse customer journeys, behaviours, funnels, and operational performance to generate actionable insights that influence Digital decision-making
- Lead deep-dive analyses on priority Digital problems, translating findings into clear recommendations
KPI & Dashboard Ownership
- Build, maintain, and own Power BI dashboards used by Digital stakeholders
- Define and maintain KPI logic, metric definitions, and documentation to ensure clarity and consistency
Experimentation & Measurement
- Design and analyse experiments (e.g. A/B tests, phased rollouts)
- Define success metrics and provide clear performance assessments and recommendations
Stakeholder Partnership
- Act as the first point of contact for analytical requests within assigned Digital areas
- Work closely with Product owners, BAs, and engineering to shape priorities using data
Data Quality & Governance
- Ensure data hygiene, consistent taxonomy, and adherence to Digital and central Data & Analytics standards
- Proactively identify and resolve data quality issues impacting insight or reporting
What you'll bring
- Degree in related field or equivalent practical experience
- Advanced SQL skills with the ability to work with large, complex datasets
- Proven experience building dashboards to support business decision-making
- Experience working with digital analytics data
- Data Science skillset (Python for analysis, fundamental Machine Learning concepts) for deeper analysis or automation
- Familiarity with experimentation frameworks and measurement
- Experience working in a product-led or agile Digital environment
- Ability to operate effectively in an environment with changing priorities and incomplete information
Minimum Criteria
- Strong Advanced SQL capability
- Proven experience developing dashboards for business users
- Experience working with large scale analytics data (e.g. GA4, web or app event data)
- Strong analytical thinking with the ability to turn data into clear, actionable insight
- Confident communicator, able to influence non-technical stakeholders
