Job Description

Do you want to be a key player in taking Vattenfall forward in the emerging energy landscape? We seek to expand our Digital Energy Solutions section with a skilled R&D Engineer with focus on Smart Energy Solutions.

Vattenfall R&D has group-wide responsibility for conducting business driven technical development that supports the company's strategic focus areas. As a Junior R&D Engineer within Digital Energy Solutions you will have the opportunity to help shape the future of Vattenfall in a complex energy landscape. You will work across Vattenfall's business units and areas as well as with external stakeholders. You will identify and analyse new technology and develop new conceptual solutions for the future businesses. Following trends and developments in the energy and related sectors to gain knowledge and insights is a natural part of the job.

In a creative environment, you take responsibility to follow up on your own and other's ideas and develop into new business concepts, with technical and value chain analysis as key tools. The role offers a high degree of freedom to shape the work with strong support from experienced colleagues.

Your primary responsibilities will be to:

  • Coordinate and execute the work together with skilled and engaged colleagues as required
  • Work with market intelligence and trend analysis
  • Identify and evaluate new technology and business models
  • Identify innovation projects and pilot initiatives of interest
  • Collaborate with key external stakeholders such as start-ups, research institutes, universities and external technology manufacturers
  • Work with Vattenfall internal communication and knowledge sharing
  • Act as the R&D go to person for innovation related questions

Qualifications

Education:

  • M.Sc. in Energy Engineering or equivalent.

Work experience and skills:

  • Background in technology and business development.
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities.
  • A creative mindset and thinking outside the box perspective.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills in English.

Meritorious:

  • Experience from project management
  • Experience from innovation work or similar
  • Experience from Vattenfall's ecosystem via internships or previous assignments
  • Fluency in Swedish

To excel in this position you need to have a positive mindset, be self-driven with good communication and interpersonal skills. You have a flexible, yet solution-oriented approach to work that shows initiative and pragmatism. You like to work in teams and create networks.
