Job Description

The Pollution Control Officer is responsible to ensure that all environmental aspects of a solar power project from site preparation to commissioning are compliant with environmental laws, company policies, and sustainability targets.

  1. Ensure compliance with local and national environmental regulations, specifically in air, water, and noise pollution control.
  2. Coordinate with the Company E&S Manager in conducting environmental impact assessments and audits by a third party and/or local authorities to identify potential risks and areas for improvement, including environmental compliance requirements.
  3. Prepare and submit required environmental reports and permits to regulatory authorities.
  4. Develop and implement pollution control strategies and action plans to minimize environmental impact.
  5. Implement regular monitoring emissions, effluent, and waste management systems to ensure they are within regulatory limits.
  6. Provide training to staff on environmental policies and pollution control measures.
  7. Promote awareness on waste minimization, energy conservation, and eco-friendly practices.
  8. Investigate and respond to environmental incidents or violations, implementing corrective actions.
  9. Coordinate in developing and maintaining emergency response procedures for environmental hazards with the Company E&S Manager.
  10. Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and all stakeholders to ensure strict compliance and proper monitoring of Environment Management Plan.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or Electrical Engineering.
  2. Minimum 1 year of experience as Pollution Control Officer. Experience in a solar power plant is an advantage.
  3. Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc)
  4. Knowledgeable of Philippine Environmental Laws and Regulations (e.g., Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, etc), including permitting process and requirements for discharge permit, emmission testing, as well compliances with ECC conditions.
  5. Technically knowledgeable and competent in pollution control, environmental protection, and regulatory compliance.
  6. Environmental monitoring and reporting skills including familiarity with the reporting process and requirements with DENR-EMB.
  7. Experience in pollution prevention and waste management.
  8. Must be a certified Pollution Control Officer with completed 40-hour Basic PCO training course.
  9. Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) and Construction Occupational Safety and Health (COSH) certifications an added advantage.
  10. Fluent in English and Ilonggo (local dialect)
