Hitachi Energy India Development Centre (IDC) is a research and development facility with around 500 R&D engineers, specialists, and experts, who focus on creating and sustaining digital solutions, new products and technology. This includes product integration, testing, cybersecurity, and certification. The India Development Centre is situated in Chennai and Bangalore. You will be part of Hitachi Energy's Automation and Communication business in Bangalore. We are responsible for development of protection and control products for power generation, transmission and sub-transmission network applications. Our product offer includes IEDs in the Region 670/650 series as well as the COMBIFLEX family.
How you'll make an impact
- You as a Sr. Software R&D Engineer would be responsible for developing PC based desktop applications & products
- Participate in product requirement workshop to understand the product development requirements and performs software-focused development activities on system/product projects, including design, coding and unit testing of software modules in line with the quality management system
- Develops new and adapted design of software modules, system setups and system integration
- You also need to partner well with a variety of different product stakeholder groups, including management at different levels, business analysts and developer's community
- You will also be technically responsible to ensure the mutual consistency and efficient integration of the several subsystems in modular, easy-to-maintain and extendible software that meets the product specification.
- You will be responsible for ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background
- Required bachelor's or master's degree in computer science / engineering with 3 to 8 years of practical experience as a Software developer in windows application development environment.
- You should have expert knowledge in Software Development Process with extensive experience in various design patterns with Object Oriented Analysis and Design Methodologies.
- Strong object-oriented programming and design skills
- Expert in Microsoft .NET framework and related technologies; C#, WPF, XML, SQL Server etc. in developing PC based desktop applications.
- Expert knowledge of Design patterns & multithreading
- Good at Code Analysis, Debug, Unit test, Profiling and other SW development tools
- Tools - Azure DevOps, GIT, Enterprise Architect, Visual Studio 2019+ and any memory profiling tools
- Desirable Knowledge of Power Systems Domain and knowledge on IEC61850 standards will be an added advantage.
- Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
