Approximately 110 employees (source: ibisworld.com). Revenue of $48.051 million for the year ending June 2024 (source: ibisworld.com).

What They Do

Brighte Capital, operating as Brighte, is a private fintech company that specializes in providing point-of-sale financing solutions aimed at facilitating affordable access to sustainable home upgrades, particularly in the renewable energy sector. Founded in 2015, the company initially started as a digital payments platform connecting homeowners with home improvement businesses but has since evolved to focus on enabling the adoption of solar energy, batteries, and other energy-efficient upgrades (source: rocketreach.co). Brighte's innovative financing model allows homeowners to access 0% interest payment plans while ensuring that over 2,200 partner vendors receive instant lump-sum payments, effectively streamlining the process of acquiring sustainable products (source: climatebase.org). The company primarily targets Australian residential customers and small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) looking to invest in solar panels, energy management systems, and electrification solutions (source: climatebase.org). By focusing exclusively on sustainability financing, Brighte differentiates itself from traditional lenders, positioning itself as a leader in the green energy sector (source: rocketreach.co).

Projects & Track Record

Brighte Capital has made significant strides in promoting the adoption of renewable energy across Australia, having processed over $1.9 billion in finance applications and assisted more than 150,000 households in installing solar energy systems. This collective effort has resulted in the generation of approximately 2,400 GWh of clean energy and a reduction of over 1.6 million metric tonnes of CO2e emissions annually (source: brighte.com.au). While Brighte does not directly develop renewable energy projects, its financing solutions have enabled widespread adoption of solar installations, contributing to a growing demand for sustainable homes, which is projected to reach $1 billion by mid-2025 (source: brighte.com.au). The company has established partnerships with over 2,200 SMEs across Australia, facilitating solar, battery, and electric vehicle upgrades, although specific project names are not detailed (source: brighte.com.au). Key clients include OVO Energy Australia and CIT, with collaborative initiatives aimed at promoting renewable energy solutions, particularly for women-led projects in the ACT (source: brighte.com.au).

Recent Developments

In recent years, Brighte has achieved notable milestones, including reaching $1 billion in sustainable home demand and announcing its commitment to carbon neutrality by 2025. On June 19, 2025, Brighte became the principal partner of Solar Cutters, a move aimed at supporting solar installers across Australia (source: brighte.com.au). The company has also engaged in several strategic partnerships, such as the collaboration with evee on August 5, 2024, to offer tailored sustainability solutions, and a partnership with OVO Energy Australia on May 24, 2024, to provide affordable energy equipment (source: brighte.com.au). Additionally, Brighte has been involved in empowering women in renewable initiatives through its collaboration with CIT, which was announced on April 19, 2024 (source: brighte.com.au). The company also secured a $100 million Series C funding round, led by Grok Ventures, further solidifying its financial position in the market (source: zoominfo.com).

Job Description

Our mission is to make consumer energy resources (CER) affordable and accessible for everyone.

Brighte is building the platform to enable and accelerate the energy transition by making it affordable, easy and less risky to buy and sell energy equipment.

Our founder and CEO, Katherine McConnell, has been awarded Telstra Businesswoman of the year in 2020 as well as winning the Sustainability Crusader award at B&T's 2023 Women Leading Tech Awards. She is a passionate and humble leader who has a human first approach to business.

As a business in 2025, we have been named a AFR Sustainability Leader within the Banking and Finance category and won the inaugural Sustainability Award at the Affies in 2024!

About the Role

We run lean, with routine work templated, automated or self-served wherever possible, so legal expertise is focused on the decisions that carry real judgement, risk and commercial consequence.

As Brighte grows across vendors, partners, products and regulatory obligations, the work reaching Legal is increasingly complex, high-impact and strategically important.

What You'll Do

  • Own commercial contracting. End-to-end ownership of vendor, SaaS, supplier, referral, integration, collaboration and data-sharing agreements. Negotiate the ones that need a lawyer directly with the other side, keep vendor terms commercial without dropping Brighte's protections, and make sure the DOA is followed and the right sign-offs are in place before anything is signed.
  • Keep customer and product documentation right. Own the customer-facing credit and product documents, keep them current and aligned with consumer-credit regulation, coordinate origination-system updates with Product, and give fast, practical sign-off on disclosures and marketing within your authority.
  • Partner with Risk & Compliance. Turn regulatory change into operational obligations and controls across responsible lending, design and distribution, privacy and consumer data. Support engagement with regulators and industry bodies, and run point on the occasional dispute, complaint or AFCA matter.
  • Make fewer matters need a lawyer, and build self-serve capability. Sharpen templates, playbooks and thresholds, supervise AI-assisted review, run legal intake through Jira, and surface clear MI on what Legal is carrying. When the same question reaches you twice, fix the cause behind it rather than answering it again. Run targeted training so the business gets more right without you.
  • Work AI-first. We're serious about AI, and serious about doing it properly. In legal, judgement beats volume so you'll use AI fluently to draft, review, summarise and triage, but you verify against the source (the legislation, the contract, the file), protect what's privileged and confidential, and own every output.

What You'll Bring

  • You're admitted to practise law in NSW, Australia with a current practising certificate, and have around ~2-4 years' PQE.
  • You trained somewhere that held you to a high standard, and spent most of your time on commercial, tech, data, consumer-credit or regulatory work.
  • You've worked in or alongside an in-house team (secondments count), so you're comfortable with ambiguity, limited supervision and speed.
  • You've negotiated commercial contracts end-to-end, directly with the other side and ideally without someone checking your work before it goes out.
  • You've built things other people use, such as playbooks, templates, automation and training.
  • You use AI fluently and with discipline: fast, but you check what it gives you.

Our hiring process

We use AI every day at Brighte, and we hire people who do too. Every role includes a short assessment that shows us how you put AI to work, use whatever tool you're most comfortable with, there's no trick to it.

Background and reference checks (police, AML, bankruptcy) come towards the end. We use AI in parts of our recruitment process, but final decisions are made by humans.

What's in it for you

A front-row seat to Australia's energy transition. Brighte finances and electrifies homes at scale - solar, batteries, hot water, heating - and our enterprise partners are central to this.

On top of that:

  • Hybrid working. 3 days in office, 2 from home.
  • We love our Socials - lunches, drinks, snacks, table tennis, a properly stocked pantry, and the company of people you actually like.
  • Employee Share Option Plan (ESOP). Share in Brighte's success.
  • End-of-trip facilities for cyclists, including showers and towel service.
  • Anniversary leave. An extra day off each year to mark your time with us.
