Job Description
Adapture Renewables, Inc. is on a mission to be a leader in this new era of sustainable energy. Drawing upon an extensive knowledge base, we develop, finance, engineer, build, own, and operate high quality utility-scale photovoltaic projects and battery energy storage projects. Our Construction team is looking for a talented Project Manager to help support the efforts of our fast-growing company. Adapture Renewables is owned by KIRKBI Climate - the private holding and investment company of the Kirk Kristiansen family founded to build a sustainable future for the LEGO brand through generations.
Overview
This position will work in our Construction team and lead the end-to-end delivery of utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage projects, from development and preconstruction handoff through commercial operation, owning project plans, budgets, schedules, and EPC execution while leading a project team of APMs, CMs, and Quality Managers. This position reports to the Director of Construction. The candidate may be based remotely in the U.S., with periodic travel to our Bay Area home office and other company locations.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead and manage internal and external resources to execute through development and precon handoff to project team
- Lead contract negotiations with EPCs and drive contract execution process
- Lead project procurement coordination activities (e.g., modules, MPT, HV breakers)
- Assist the development team by providing site risk assessment and mitigation options
- Analyze site for key constructability factors based on constraint data including, but not limited to, environmental risks, easements, wetlands, and pipelines
- Interview, hire, lead, and retain APMs, CMs, and Quality Managers to manage projects from inception to O&M
- Manage project plans and budgets; compile revenue and cash flow forecasts; compile financial reports for executive management and shareholders
- Manage utility requirements and GIA, including substation, switchyard, and T-line construction
- Manage and build BESS projects, including standalone, co-located, and combined configurations
- Drive project schedule to meet contractual EPC milestones, Utility/GIA milestones, ISO COD, and PPA COD deadlines
- Provide support to the precon team on RFP bid reviews and technical documentation, including support in the EPC selection process
- Conduct monthly owner site visits and assessments to monitor and manage construction EPCs
- Implement, monitor, and improve the following systems on a project-by-project basis:
- Site-specific safety program and site safety audits
- Quality management program and QA/QC inspections
- Cost management system
- Schedule management system
- Lead and coordinate communications with landowners, utilities, and offtakers as needed during construction
- Report on project health regularly to management
- Represent the construction department in relevant development and delivery meetings as required
- Represent the construction department during relevant third-party stakeholder meetings and events as required
- Coordinate weekly one-on-one meetings with the project team
Qualifications and Experience
- Demonstrated experience managing utility-scale solar PV and BESS construction projects from inception through commercial operation
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience
- PVsyst energy modeling software experience
- Experience with PV utility-scale design, including layouts and single-line diagrams
- Experience with civil design requirements for the development of PV utility-scale projects, including site access, site drainage, and hydrology
- Experience with various PV technologies used in utility-scale projects in the U.S. market
- Experience with resource analysis and performance metrics and KPIs, including leading training and certification processes
- OSHA 30 certification; CPR/First-Aid/AED; SWPPP and erosion control
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder communication skills
- Position requires regular travel to project sites and other company locations
