Job Description

The Principal Electrical Safety Compliance Manager provides strategic leadership and governance for offshore electrical safety across the Offshore Business, operating as a senior subject matter authority within the H&S Compliance function. The role defines and oversees the development, implementation and continual improvement of electrical safety standards, rules and assurance processes, ensuring that high-voltage electrical safety is governed consistently across projects and operational assets. The role ensures alignment with internal governance, applicable legislation, statutory obligations, recognised industry standards and good practice, while strengthening organisational capability, assurance maturity and the overall electrical safety culture across the business.

What you'll be doing

This role is responsible for leading the strategic direction and governance of electrical safety across the Offshore Business. You will ensure the effective implementation of high-voltage safety standards across both project delivery and operational assets, maintaining a strong and consistent safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and deliver the electrical safety strategy and governance framework across the Offshore Business
  • Ensure robust application of high-voltage safety rules across all projects and operational sites
  • Oversee authorisation, competency and assurance frameworks for critical electrical safety roles
  • Enable projects and operational teams with effective tools, systems and procedures to identify and apply relevant electrical safety requirements
  • Drive the integration of electrical safety considerations throughout the full lifecycle, including design, construction, commissioning, operations and maintenance
  • Lead continuous improvement by capturing and embedding lessons learned from audits, incidents, inspections and operational feedback
  • Act as a key representative for electrical safety, engaging with senior stakeholders, project leadership teams, contractors, regulators and industry bodies

What you'll bring

  • Extensive knowledge of electrical safety management in high-voltage environments, ideally within offshore wind, power transmission, substations or other comparable industrial settings.
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety rules, switching and isolation principles, permit-to-work systems, hazard identification and risk management, incident learning, assurance processes and statutory compliance.
  • Proven ability to interpret complex engineering and compliance requirements and translate them into clear governance, standards and practical business requirements.
  • Experience in developing governance frameworks, procedures, competency arrangements, audit programmes and compliance assurance processes.
  • Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the credibility to operate effectively with senior stakeholders in an international matrix environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and confidence in preparing high-quality reports, senior management presentations, governance papers, meeting outputs and action tracking materials.
  • Fluent English is required; additional languages are an advantage.
