Job Description

GOLDBECK SOLAR is a leading provider of turnkey solar systems on commercial roofs and ground mounted utility scale PV power plants. With our team of dedicated employees, we develop, plan, build, operate and finance photovoltaic systems in Germany, Europe and worldwide - tailor-made with a standardized approach.

What you can expect

As a Commissioning Engineer (m/f/d), you will play a key role in the successful delivery of utility-scale solar PV and BESS projects across the UK. You will be responsible for planning, coordinating and executing commissioning activities, ensuring that systems are tested, verified and energised safely and in line with technical, contractual and regulatory requirements.

From pre-commissioning readiness reviews through testing, grid connection and performance validation to final handover, you will work closely with project teams, subcontractors, clients and grid stakeholders to ensure smooth and efficient project delivery.

Tasks

  • Plan, coordinate and execute commissioning activities for utility-scale solar PV and BESS projects
  • Review commissioning readiness, technical drawings, test procedures and project documentation prior to energisation
  • Perform and supervise electrical testing, system verification and troubleshooting of DC, LV and HV equipment
  • Coordinate commissioning activities with project managers, subcontractors, clients, OEMs and grid stakeholders
  • Support energisation, grid connection, protection testing and performance validation activities
  • Ensure compliance with UK grid requirements, project specifications and applicable standards
  • Monitor commissioning progress, identify issues and implement corrective actions where required
  • Ensure all commissioning works are carried out in accordance with health, safety and quality requirements
  • Prepare commissioning reports, test records, certificates and handover documentation

Profile

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a comparable qualification
  • Proven commissioning experience in utility-scale solar PV, BESS or other power generation projects
  • Strong knowledge of AC and DC low-voltage systems and experience with high-voltage installations
  • Understanding of grid connection, commissioning and performance testing processes
  • CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test for Managers and Professionals and HV AP / LV AP certification
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems, monitoring solutions, sensors and communication infrastructure
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Structured and methodical working style with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced project environment
  • Excellent written and spoken English; German is an advantage
  • Good knowledge of MS Office, ERP systems and digital project tools
