What They Do
Haven Energy specializes in solar and battery backup systems for residential customers, aiming to make electricity cheaper, cleaner, and more reliable through integrated solar and home battery systems (source: havenenergy.com). The company operates on a brand-agnostic model, offering batteries from manufacturers such as FranklinWH, Tesla Powerwall, and Enphase, allowing for tailored solutions that meet individual customer needs during the design process (source: havenenergy.com). A key differentiator is that Haven owns and operates the systems it deploys, enabling it to claim commercial federal tax credits and pass those savings directly to customers, thus simplifying the process for homeowners (source: havenenergy.com). This full-service approach includes permitting, installation, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance, which helps to remove barriers to adoption for residential customers (source: havenenergy.com).
Projects & Track Record
Haven Energy has been actively deploying systems across California, particularly focusing on Southern California and disadvantaged areas of Los Angeles (source: havenenergy.com). As of April 2025, the company is involved in the Self-Generation Incentive Program's Residential Solar & Storage Equity (SGIP RSSE) framework, which represents a significant $280 million state initiative aimed at providing no-cost solar and battery systems to income-qualified customers (source: havenenergy.com). Haven also serves as the first Virtual Power Plant (VPP) partner for the Clean Power Alliance, collaborating with utility companies and community choice aggregators to deploy distributed battery systems (source: havenenergy.com).
Recent Developments
In April 2025, Haven Energy announced its participation in California's $280 million Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP) RSSE framework, which allows the company to offer no-cost solar and battery systems to income-qualified customers (source: havenenergy.com). The company also expanded its partnerships with The Energy Coalition to provide battery systems to low- and moderate-income customers through the Bassett Avocado Heights Advanced Energy Community program (source: havenenergy.com). Additionally, Haven completed a Series A funding round raising $7 million approximately one year ago, bringing its total funding to $11.2 million (source: havenenergy.com).
Working There
Haven Energy's leadership team includes professionals with diverse backgrounds in technology, operations, finance, and service design, indicating a structured approach to its organizational focus (source: havenenergy.com). The company actively recruits for various positions and maintains a careers page, reflecting ongoing hiring efforts (source: havenenergy.com). With its primary administrative headquarters in Austin, Texas, Haven is currently focused on hiring in California while preparing to expand into Connecticut and Massachusetts (source: havenenergy.com).

Job Description
Haven Energy is seeking a Director of Partner Operations to build, scale, and manage the national network of electrical contractors and EPCs who install and commission our systems. This is a foundational leadership role on our Operations team: you will own how Haven identifies, contracts, develops, and manages partners across every market we operate in.
Every system our partners install is a Haven owned VPP asset, and the quality of that work directly determines the grid service performance our utility partners depend on. This role owns the frameworks, scorecards, and accountability structures that make Haven's partner network synonymous with quality at scale.
You will work cross-functionally with Field Operations, Product, and Finance, and serve as the internal authority on partner network health, capacity, and performance. This role reports to the VP of Operations.
What You'll Do
Partner Network Growth
- Source, evaluate, and onboard new EPC partners who exhibit quality across all disciplines in the residential system lifecycle: site survey, design engineering, permitting, installation, commissioning, inspection, and interconnection
- Own the end-to-end pipeline for prospective partners; from initial outreach through capability assessment, commercial negotiation, contracting, and onboarding
- Build and manage a tiered partner program that aligns incentives with quality outcomes, rewards consistent performance, and creates clear pathways for advancement
- Identify geographic coverage gaps and prioritize network expansion in markets aligned with Haven's utility, REP, and CCA program roadmap
- Maintain deep market intelligence on partner capabilities, capacity, labor rates, licensing, and competitive positioning across key geographies
- Build relationships at the ownership and operations level within partner organizations; earning trust as a long-term counterpart, not just a customer
- Expand the dynamic partner ecosystem as Haven scales
Scorecard Metrics & KPI Framework
- Design and own the Haven Partner Scorecard: a comprehensive performance framework covering installation quality, commissioning accuracy, code compliance, project cycle time, rework rate, customer experience, and financial accuracy
- Define KPIs at each stage of the project lifecycle in partnership with Data and Operations; establish baseline targets, alert thresholds, and escalation protocols for underperformance
- Ensure scorecard metrics are directly tied to VPP asset health; tracking the outcomes that matter for long-term grid service performance, not just short-term project completion
- Present scorecard findings to leadership in regular business reviews with clear narrative, trend analysis, and recommended actions
- Iterate on the framework as Haven's product, markets, and utility program requirements evolve
Analytics & Partner Quality
- Own partner performance analytics: dashboards, trend reports, cohort analyses, root cause investigations
- Trace quality, timeline, and CX patterns to individual partners
- Build segmentation models to flag high performers vs. those needing support
- Turn insights into improvement plans and capacity/network decisions
- Partner with Product and Field Quality Engineering on data needs and tooling
Partner Support & Relationship Management
- Own the strategic partner relationship: lead business reviews on performance, pipeline, capacity, and program expectations
- Serve as escalation point for director-level disputes and complex project issues
- Diagnose performance gaps with partners, co-develop time-bound improvement plans with Field Quality Engineering, and make network decisions when standards aren't met
- Build and maintain partner-facing resources: onboarding materials, playbooks, training, SOPs
- Champion the partner voice internally, surfacing friction, process gaps, and tooling needs
What You'll Bring
- 10+ years of experience in partner operations, contractor network management, business development, or a closely related field
- Demonstrated success building or scaling a national or regional contractor or partner network in a high-growth, operationally complex environment
- Deep familiarity with the electrical contracting industry: licensing, field operations, labor markets, and how EPC businesses are structured and run
- Track record of designing and operationalizing partner performance frameworks, quality scorecards, or KPI systems
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets and at least one BI or analytics tool (Looker, Tableau, or SQL)
- Experience in residential construction, field services, or distributed energy - or a demonstrated ability to ramp quickly in technical, operationally complex domains
- Excellent written and verbal communication; able to present data-driven findings to leadership, negotiate commercial terms with partner principals, and write clear internal documentation
- A decisive leader who invests deeply in strong partners and holds the network to a high standard
- Thrives in a fast-moving startup environment where processes are built, not inherited
Nice to Have
- Background in battery storage, electrification, or distributed energy resource (DER) deployment
- Familiarity with residential permitting, interconnection, or inspection workflows
- Experience managing contractor networks in support of utility or CCA program delivery
- Prior experience building or managing a tiered contractor or channel partner program
- Knowledge of NECA, IBEW, or non-union electrical contractor landscape across U.S. markets
- Exposure to VPP operations, demand response, or long-term asset performance management
