About the role

A new opportunity has become available to join AGL's Energy Solutions Team.

As the Senior Mechanical Project Engineer, you'll be at the forefront our renewable energy revolution, leading the design and technical sign-off of structural and mechanical scopes for large and complex hybrid energy system projects for our commercial and industrial customers that harness the power of the sun and sustainable technologies.

The role can be based in either of our Sydney, Adelaide or Melbourne offices.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and manage safe designs for Energy Solutions hybrid energy systems (HES) projects focused on thermal power generation to compliment Solar PV and Energy Storage.
  • Develop scope of works, engaging and coordinating with external multi-disciplinary engineering consultants to deliver on all required engineering design deliverables to meet project scope.
  • Engage with suppliers and undertake tender processes for procurement.
  • Manage consultants and suppliers to deliver thermal power generation designs and equipment.
  • Assist the Project Delivery Team to resolve technical issues encountered during the installation and adjust designs and drawings as needed.
  • Work cross-functionally with Sales, Delivery and Engineering through the bid management/contract execution process.

About you

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Strong understanding of diesel and gas generator systems, including performance optimisation and reliability engineering.
  • Strong understanding of fuel parameters (heat rate, LHV/HHV, Wobbe Index, specific fuel consumption) and their impact on generator performance and efficiency.
  • Demonstrated hands-on troubleshooting skills and root cause analysis.
  • Experience working in cross disciplinary delivery teams, taking the lead engineering role and demonstrating commitment to a culture of health and safety.
  • Knowledge and experience with relevant design and engineering software (AutoCad).
  • Well-developed, detail orientated organization skills and good interpersonal and written / verbal communication skills.
