What They Do

Deftpower B.V. is a private cleantech startup focused on developing software for integrating renewable energy sources such as solar and wind energy into electric vehicle (EV) charging. Their technology includes an AI-supported SaaS platform and a white-label mobile application that enables smart charging, allowing vehicles to connect with networks, energy markets, and over 2,000 charging point operators across Europe. This allows them to reduce costs by up to 20% through dynamic pricing and prepare for vehicle-to-grid (V2G) functionality (source: cbinsights.com). Deftpower serves a wide range of clients, including e-mobility service providers, charging point operators, car manufacturers, energy suppliers, and grid operators, and has a platform that processes millions of transactions in 10 European countries (source: deftpower.com). Their products include a branded app for drivers that provides access to over 800,000 charging points, a business portal for electricity trading and fraud prevention, and developer APIs compatible with OCPI and ISO15118 protocols (source: deftpower.com).

Projects & Track Record

Deftpower has built an impressive track record by implementing its platform for over 40 clients managing widespread EV charging solutions. A notable project is the ongoing smart charging trial launched on May 15, 2025, in Amsterdam, designed as a potential model for global cities by optimizing grid load and renewable integration (source: cbinsights.com). Collaboration with over 40 EV brands and 2,000+ charging point operators strengthens their market position, although specific client names have not been disclosed (source: deftpower.com). Deftpower's platform is active in 10 European countries, focusing on expansion funded by their recent €12.5 million funding round (source: 4impact.vc).

Recent Developments

In the past two years, Deftpower secured €12.5 million in funding on August 29, 2025, led by Endeit Capital with participation from 4impact capital, Proeza Ventures, Rethink Mobility, and Jan Fredriks, supported by the EU's InvestEU Fund. This funding is intended to drive European expansion and AI enhancements for their platform (source: 4impact.vc). The Amsterdam smart charging trial, which began on May 15, 2025, marks a significant milestone in the practical implementation of their technology (source: cbinsights.com). So far, no acquisitions, mergers, awards, or additional certifications have been reported in the sources from 2024-2025, although CEO Jacob van Zonneveld's previous role in founding Plugsurfing (acquired by Fortum in 2018) highlights the continuity of leadership (source: vehicle-2-grid.eu).

Working at Deftpower

Deftpower currently has approximately 70 employees, growing from just over 50 previously. Roles include software development (API and backend for EV integrations), product management, sales, business development, customer service, and operations within engineering, IT, and cleantech functions in an agile team structure (source: 4impact.vc). The company has offices in Arnhem and Berlin, focusing on growth in EV software amid European expansion (source: deftpower.com). The company culture emphasizes technical excellence, rapid execution, and creating clarity from the chaos of the industry, with values aimed at stakeholder success, both economically and ecologically (source: deftpower.com). Specific benefits are not documented in public sources.

Job Description

At Deftpower, we're shaping the future of electric charging every single day. Our SaaS-platform helps businesses across Europe make charging simpler, smarter and more sustainable. With AI and intelligent software, we make sure charging works seamlessly with the energy grid, creating a greener and more stable system for everyone.

We're growing fast, thanks to a recent major investment, and there's never a dull moment! We're expanding, improving our technology, and teaming up with companies in over ten countries.

About the team

You join our Product Management Team, working closely with Product Owners, Engineering, Sales, Account Management and Customer Engagement. The team is spread across Arnhem and Berlin and focuses on building new smart charging products, validating market needs and strengthening relationships with key partners. Within this group, you own the Transaction domain, the part of our platform that takes tenants from "charging happened" to "money is collected and accounted for." Invoicing, payments, ledger, reconciliation: tenants trust us to get this right, every time, in every country we operate in.

About the job

You own the end-to-end financial experience for our tenants: invoicing, payments, ledger visibility and reconciliation, across ten-plus countries with their own VAT rules, invoicing requirements and payment regulations. The challenge? Every market has different rules and mistakes here don't just cost trust, they cost tenants money and compliance risk. You navigate that complexity and turn it into a product tenants can rely on without thinking twice.

You spot where tenants get stuck before support tickets pile up. You write clear problem statements, define success criteria and kick off new initiatives, from clearer invoice statuses to self-service actions tenants can take without waiting on us. You use tenant feedback and product data to prioritise. You manage the tension between country-specific compliance requirements and a platform that stays simple and scalable.

  • Own the roadmap for invoicing, payments, ledger, settlement and reconciliation across all markets
  • Identify gaps in self-service and initiate projects with sharp problem statements and success criteria
  • Navigate cross-border VAT, invoicing and payment regulations without slowing the product down
  • Turn client pain points (unclear statuses, invisible failures) into concrete product improvements
  • Own the growth of subscriptions as strategic part of the Transaction product
  • Develop new business models in settlement and cash handling
  • Turn our whitelabel PSP into the best in class

What your new colleagues say

Anja, Office Manager

''Everyone is incredibly committed and motivated to make something of Deftpower.''

Wierd, Head of Engineering

"No politics, no unnecessary hierarchy. People say what they think and are honest."

Tim, Operations

''The connection between the charging pole, the car, and our app makes us unique. It's tangible technology anyone can understand.''

Timo, CISO

"On day 1, after onboarding, you can already deliver something for a customer. You make impact very quickly."

For you

At Deftpower you'll find more than cutting-edge tech, you'll find a team that actually enjoys the ride! Colleagues say we are ambitious, friendly and flexible, with just the right amount of chaos to keep things interesting. There are many moving parts, partners, suppliers, clients and we are a fast growing company that is still learning.

You get support from talented colleagues and a management team that's close, approachable and ready to roll up their sleeves. You get the space to shape your role, to take initiative, to make real decisions, test ideas, and yes, sometimes break things. We call it 'learning fast'...

  • Salary range: between ???65.000,- and ???90.000 on an annual basis
  • 25 vacations days
  • Choose your own laptop to work with (???1.750,-)
  • A flexible setup: hybrid working, short decision lines and trust
  • ???2.000,- training budget a year

About you

You know financial operations. Not just as a line item, you understand why an unclear invoice status or a failed payment retry erodes tenant trust fast. You combine product instinct with a sharp eye for compliance and strong stakeholder management.

  • You have 5+ years of product management experience, ideally in fintech, billing, payments or a regulated financial domain
  • You're comfortable working with cross-border compliance requirements (VAT, invoicing rules) without letting them dictate a messy product
  • You can read data and reconciliation flows well enough to challenge and improve them
  • You have experience managing products where mistakes have direct financial or legal consequences
  • You can turn tenant frustration (statuses, failures, manual work) into a clear, prioritised roadmap
  • You feel comfortable in client meetings and can say no to stakeholders, respectfully and with good reasoning

Our values

Drive

You love turning ideas into action. You take ownership, push projects forward and get energy from creating solutions that actually work in the real world.

Earnest

You do the right thing, especially when no one's watching. You're respectful, honest and reliable, colleagues know they can count on you.

Forward thinking

You're curious and not afraid to try new things. You experiment, learn fast and spot opportunities before others see them coming. Calculated risks? You're in.

Transparency

You believe sharing is power. You communicate openly, give constructive feedback and make your work visible so the whole team can grow together.
