The Tax Principal Manager will be responsible for strengthening the tax control environment and improving the efficiency, accuracy, and sustainability of core tax processes. Responsibilities

  • Manages the consolidated tax accounting function, including monthly tax close, FIN 48 reserves, and quarterly and annual financial statement tax disclosures.
  • Oversees regulatory filing compliance, including FERC Form 1, TAMA computations, FERC TO filings, and related regulatory reporting.
  • Manages the tax fixed asset system, including book/tax basis differences, tax depreciation, and ASC 980 regulatory balances.
  • Research and apply accounting guidance (ASC 740, ASC 980, FIN 48) to new and complex transactions.
  • Oversee tax repair, depreciation, and property-related tax processes to ensure compliance with IRS and regulatory requirements.
  • Drives continuous improvement in tax processes, systems.
  • Leads and develops a team of tax professionals, including performance management, coaching, and mentoring.
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Seven or more years of experience supervising a team of direct reports and/or project management.
  • Ten or more years of experience working on tax provisions and financial statement reporting.
  • Demonstrated mastery of ASC 740 accounting principles as well as a thorough understanding of SOX controls and control processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in either Taxation or Accounting or MBA
  • Mastery of ASC 980 with experience in the Utility industry or national public accounting firm advising utility clients
  • 15 or more years of accounting for income tax experience with a minimum of 10 years leading and managing others
  • CPA license

Additional Information

  • This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
