Reporting to the Civil/Mechanical Engineering Manager, the Senior Civil Engineer will play a key role in the planning, execution, and technical support of major civil interventions on our operating assets, primarily hydroelectric generating stations and wind farms.

Technical Management and Operations Project Support

  • Plan, structure, and oversee major civil and structural rehabilitation projects (dams, concrete structures, buildings, foundations, and roads), from the definition phase through project completion.
  • Actively support Operations and Maintenance teams during planned and corrective interventions, including root cause analysis and the recommendation of sustainable corrective actions.

Asset Inspection, Integrity, and Sustainability

  • Conduct or coordinate technical inspections of civil and structural assets (dams, spillways, buildings, powerhouse structures, and wind turbine structures).
  • Assess asset condition, analyze risks associated with their state, and provide prioritized technical recommendations related to safety, regulatory compliance, and long-term asset sustainability.
  • Define and improve inspection, maintenance, and rehabilitation strategies for civil assets in accordance with industry best practices.

Coordination and Project Management

  • Ensure technical coordination among internal stakeholders (Operations, Health & Safety, Procurement, Finance) and external stakeholders (engineering consulting firms, contractors, and suppliers).
  • Participate in the development of cost estimates, schedules, execution strategies, and risk assessments for civil projects on operating assets.
  • Support the preparation of requests for proposals (RFPs), technical bid evaluations, and supplier selection.

Technical Expertise and Continuous Improvement

  • Serve as a technical reference for the Civil Operations team, including remote support to sites and technical mentoring.
  • Contribute to the development, updating, and implementation of maintenance standards, guidelines, and procedures related to civil and mechanical assets.
  • Identify and collaborate on asset optimization opportunities (sustainability, reliability, performance, and lifecycle costs) in partnership with Project and Operations teams.

To succeed in this role, you must

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering and be a member of the Ordre des ing??nieurs du Qu??bec (OIQ).
  • Have a strong interest in teamwork and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Possess eight (8) years of relevant experience in civil and structural rehabilitation projects, including existing operating infrastructure (dams, concrete structures, industrial buildings, and foundations).
  • Be proficient in both French and English, spoken and written.
  • Be capable of serving as a technical reference for internal teams and operating sites, with a strong interest in and comfort with field work.
  • Have project management skills and the ability to coordinate various project factors (health and safety, environment, schedule, budget, etc.).
  • Demonstrate initiative and autonomy in carrying out assignments.
  • Have a strong sense of accountability, quality, and risk management.

This position requires availability for frequent travel throughout Canada and the United States.
