Job Description

The Senior Marketing Manager will lead and deliver the day-to-day business strategy for our domestic energy tariff renewals plus a range of other multi-channel customer communications, ensuring customer clarity, required business outcomes and legal & regulatory compliance.

The Senior Marketing Manager will define and project manage the day-to-day strategy, changes and prioritisation of work in a diverse and highly challenging market. You will create and deliver a robust retention strategy that meets our regulatory obligations whilst creating seamless customer journeys. You will liaise with cross business stakeholders and work with our Regulatory and Legal teams to ensure compliance and deliver best in class communications.

What you'll be doing

  • Play an active part in delivering Marketing's Strategy acting as an agent for change and a point of innovation and creativity
  • Challenge established practices and procedures and incorporate best practice from other sectors and competitors, ensuring simple and easy to understand customer communications that have a digital experience at their core
  • Lead on high profile projects and strategic initiatives that have an impact on customer retention
  • Ensure changes help to minimise losses, increase value from existing customers, are accessible to vulnerable customers and project key Customer Business brand values
  • Manage stakeholders at all levels including Director and COE level when required
  • Where layout and design enhancements are required, manage the full creative development process with internal and/or external marketing agencies, ensuring all internal stakeholders are managed effectively and appropriate sign-off is secured for marketing activity
  • Optimise the efficiency and effectiveness of all communications activity by implementing reporting and evaluation processes, and plan communication changes and enhancements as necessary based on correspondence performance
  • Design communications that cater for all sections of our customer base, that incorporate plain language principles and meet vulnerability needs
  • Deputise for the Senior Communications Manager (Domestic) when required and represent the Marketing department as a marketing expert to senior internal and external stakeholders as required
  • Use the benefit of their experience to provide mentoring and support to Marketing Manager colleagues as required
  • Effectively manage the budget tasks, maximising cost efficiencies for both internal and external suppliers
  • Respond quickly and effectively to competitor activity and business opportunities as they arise

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent professional qualification
  • At least 5 years Marketing experience
  • Proven track record of delivery in a Direct Marketing communications environment
  • Proven track record of managing below the line campaigns

  • Ability to manage a complex set of parallel and overlapping issues (policy, technology, business processes, customer behaviour) and to synthesise into a few clear and actionable ideas and opportunities
