Freedom Solar Power
Company Overview
Freedom Solar Power
HeadquartersAustin, TX, United States
Founded2007
SizeApproximately 600 employees and revenue of $464 million in 2023 (source: zoominfo.com).
What They Do
Freedom Solar Power focuses exclusively on solar photovoltaic technology, acting as a full-service installer without involvement in wind, storage, hydrogen, or grid services beyond basic integration (source: freedomsolarpower.com). The company provides end-to-end residential and commercial solar systems, handling sales, custom design, permitting, in-house installation, and ongoing maintenance. Previously, it was a master dealer of high-efficiency SunPower panels, but the recent bankruptcy of SunPower has impacted its operations (source: prevostlawfirm.com). Residential customers benefit from tailored rooftop systems that come with a 25-year "bumper to bumper" warranty covering power production, products, and workmanship, although there have been complaints regarding service claims amid SunPower's failure (source: freedomsolarpower.com). The company serves residential homeowners in Texas, Florida, Colorado, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia, alongside hundreds of commercial clients nationwide, including notable businesses like Whole Foods and Office Depot (source: prevostlawfirm.com).
Projects & Track Record
By 2022, Freedom Solar had installed a cumulative 157 megawatts as SunPower's top master dealer, enough to power tens of thousands of homes, following 80 megawatts by 2020 expansions (source: freedomsolarpower.com). The company has completed thousands of residential and major commercial projects, including installations for Whole Foods and Office Depot since its inception (source: prevostlawfirm.com). Freedom Solar constructed some of Texas's largest early solar projects, starting as an installation specialist in 2007, and served 7,000 residential customers by 2020 (source: energysage.com). Although no specific current or ongoing major projects are detailed in recent disclosures, the company continues its national commercial operations alongside residential growth (source: freedomsolarpower.com).
Recent Developments
In the last two years through 2024, Freedom Solar settled a U.S. government claim for $425,710 over alleged improper receipt of a Paycheck Protection Program loan, without admitting wrongdoing (source: prevostlawfirm.com). The company received a corporate minority investment from SunPower on March 31, 2022, as part of the Dealer Accelerator Program to boost local solar businesses, marking its latest funding after a 2018 unattributed round (source: cbinsights.com). Expansions included new offices in Raleigh-Durham NC by 2022, highlighting 15 years of experience and 157 MW installed (source: freedomsolarpower.com). However, SunPower's recent bankruptcy has created challenges for Freedom Solar, as it installed their panels and components, potentially invalidating manufacturer warranties and shifting repair burdens despite the company's own workmanship coverage (source: prevostlawfirm.com).
Working There
Freedom Solar hires across various departments including sales, design, permitting, installation, and service for its fully integrated teams, with roles likely concentrated in residential operations in Texas and Florida, as well as national commercial divisions (source: freedomsolarpower.com). Openings appear at all listed offices, including the Austin TX headquarters, San Antonio TX, Grapevine TX, Houston TX, Colorado Springs CO, Denver CO, Tampa FL, Orlando FL, Chesapeake VA, and expansions like Raleigh-Durham NC and Charlotte SC (source: energysage.com). The company culture emphasizes teamwork, accountability, transparency, and humility, as reflected in its values such as "Put People First" and "Have a Humble Heart" (source: freedomsolarpower.com). While specific benefits packages are not publicly documented, the company's long-term service commitments are underscored by its 25-year warranties; however, job seekers should be aware of customer complaints on warranty service and the 2024 PPP settlement as potential stability indicators (source: prevostlawfirm.com).

Job Description
Freedom Power was born when Freedom Solar and Freedom HVAC joined forces to become Texas's complete whole-house energy company. On the commercial side, we're building large-scale solar projects that reshape how businesses and communities consume energy. We call it Energy Empowerment - and the Commercial Solar Superintendent is the person who makes it real, one job site at a time.
If you've got solar in your bones, a zero-tolerance mindset for schedule slip, and the leadership chops to manage contractors, electricians, and field teams across multiple active sites - this role was built for you. You'll be the primary bridge between the field and the office: setting standards, enforcing quality, solving problems before they become crises, and coaching your teams to perform at the highest level. You'll travel to sites, get your hands into the details, and own the outcome from beginning to final inspection.
Competitive pay and top-notch benefits!
What You'll Do
Field Operations & Construction Management
- Oversee all construction activity across active commercial solar project sites - schedule, quality, and FSP standards are yours to own.
- Manage approved contractors, Field Operations Managers, Field Engineers, and Electricians to deliver quality, on-schedule installs.
- Travel to job sites during construction to observe, document, and coach teams on process adherence.
- Ensure field teams have the equipment and materials they need to execute - no excuses, no delays.
- Coordinate with project managers, clients, and contractors to keep projects on track and field issues resolved fast.
Compliance & Inspections
- Develop and implement inspection protocols in accordance with AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) requirements.
- Review inspection reports for completeness and accuracy; maintain documentation and records of inspections and repairs.
- Keep internal and external teams in full compliance with FSP and industry standards.
Training & Process Development
- Coach, train, interview, and hire installers and other field personnel.
- Collaborate with the Commercial Director, Project Managers, and stakeholders to refine SOPs and QA/QC standards.
- Set performance goals for install teams and drive accountability toward them.
Communication & Reporting
- Keep project managers and leadership aligned on timelines, schedules, and field progress.
- Communicate project details clearly to support customer and sales team expectations.
- Carry out additional duties as directed by management.
What You Bring
- 1-2+ years of scheduling, project management, or multi-crew supervision experience (required)
- Prior solar or construction management experience strongly preferred; commercial solar experience highly preferred

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), Adobe Acrobat, G-Suite, and project management/CRM tools
- Strong knowledge of solar panel technology, installation processes, and industry standards
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and electrical plans
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills - you're the bridge between field and office
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, and relentless about accurate reporting
- Problem-solver with a sense of urgency - no obstacle stops task completion
The Physical Side
- Comfortable climbing ladders and working at heights on active commercial job sites
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Ready to work in a variety of weather conditions - Texas heat included
- Frequent travel to job sites across the region

- 100% Company-Sponsored Short-Term Disability
- 401(k) Employer Matching
- Weekly Pay Dates
- 3 Weeks PTO + 3 Sick Days
