Job Description

The Engineer - Production will support day-to-day production activities, learn manufacturing processes, assist in process improvements, and contribute to productivity, quality, and safety initiatives. The role aims to build technical capability and prepare the individual for future production engineering roles within the organization.

Roles & Responsibilities

Production Operations

  • Support daily production activities on the shop floor.
  • Understand the complete manufacturing workflow, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and work instructions.
  • Monitor production parameters, machine performance, and process compliance.
  • Assist in manpower allocation, shift planning, and WIP monitoring.
  • Ensure timely escalation of production issues.

Process & Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and 5S improvement activities.
  • Conduct Time & Motion studies, line balancing, and capacity analysis.
  • Identify bottlenecks and support improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Work with senior engineers on process optimization and waste reduction.

Quality Support

  • Ensure adherence to quality standards, specifications, and inspection methods.
  • Support in root cause analysis (RCA) for non-conformities.
  • Participate in quality audits and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain production documentation and quality records.

Data Management & Reporting

  • Prepare and maintain daily production reports (DPR), downtime analysis, and shift performance data.
  • Track productivity KPIs such as OEE, cycle time, rejection percentage, and throughput.
  • Coordinate with Quality, Maintenance, and Planning teams for data accuracy.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and workplace standards.
  • Participate in safety audits and hazard identification activities.
  • Ensure safe work practices on the shop floor.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Coordinate with Maintenance for breakdown follow-up and preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Work closely with Quality, PPC, and Logistics teams for production continuity.
  • Support cross-functional improvement projects assigned by the manager.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing operations and production processes.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing, 5S, and industrial engineering tools.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and basic data analysis.
  • Willingness to work in shifts (if required) and on the shop floor.
