Regional Safety & Training Coordinator
Freedom Solar Power
Company Overview
Freedom Solar Power
HeadquartersAustin, TX, United States
Founded2007
SizeApproximately 600 employees and revenue of $464 million in 2023 (source: zoominfo.com).
What They Do
Freedom Solar Power focuses exclusively on solar photovoltaic technology, acting as a full-service installer without involvement in wind, storage, hydrogen, or grid services beyond basic integration (source: freedomsolarpower.com). The company provides end-to-end residential and commercial solar systems, handling sales, custom design, permitting, in-house installation, and ongoing maintenance. Previously, it was a master dealer of high-efficiency SunPower panels, but the recent bankruptcy of SunPower has impacted its operations (source: prevostlawfirm.com). Residential customers benefit from tailored rooftop systems that come with a 25-year "bumper to bumper" warranty covering power production, products, and workmanship, although there have been complaints regarding service claims amid SunPower's failure (source: freedomsolarpower.com). The company serves residential homeowners in Texas, Florida, Colorado, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia, alongside hundreds of commercial clients nationwide, including notable businesses like Whole Foods and Office Depot (source: prevostlawfirm.com).
Projects & Track Record
By 2022, Freedom Solar had installed a cumulative 157 megawatts as SunPower's top master dealer, enough to power tens of thousands of homes, following 80 megawatts by 2020 expansions (source: freedomsolarpower.com). The company has completed thousands of residential and major commercial projects, including installations for Whole Foods and Office Depot since its inception (source: prevostlawfirm.com). Freedom Solar constructed some of Texas's largest early solar projects, starting as an installation specialist in 2007, and served 7,000 residential customers by 2020 (source: energysage.com). Although no specific current or ongoing major projects are detailed in recent disclosures, the company continues its national commercial operations alongside residential growth (source: freedomsolarpower.com).
Recent Developments
In the last two years through 2024, Freedom Solar settled a U.S. government claim for $425,710 over alleged improper receipt of a Paycheck Protection Program loan, without admitting wrongdoing (source: prevostlawfirm.com). The company received a corporate minority investment from SunPower on March 31, 2022, as part of the Dealer Accelerator Program to boost local solar businesses, marking its latest funding after a 2018 unattributed round (source: cbinsights.com). Expansions included new offices in Raleigh-Durham NC by 2022, highlighting 15 years of experience and 157 MW installed (source: freedomsolarpower.com). However, SunPower's recent bankruptcy has created challenges for Freedom Solar, as it installed their panels and components, potentially invalidating manufacturer warranties and shifting repair burdens despite the company's own workmanship coverage (source: prevostlawfirm.com).
Working There
Freedom Solar hires across various departments including sales, design, permitting, installation, and service for its fully integrated teams, with roles likely concentrated in residential operations in Texas and Florida, as well as national commercial divisions (source: freedomsolarpower.com). Openings appear at all listed offices, including the Austin TX headquarters, San Antonio TX, Grapevine TX, Houston TX, Colorado Springs CO, Denver CO, Tampa FL, Orlando FL, Chesapeake VA, and expansions like Raleigh-Durham NC and Charlotte SC (source: energysage.com). The company culture emphasizes teamwork, accountability, transparency, and humility, as reflected in its values such as "Put People First" and "Have a Humble Heart" (source: freedomsolarpower.com). While specific benefits packages are not publicly documented, the company's long-term service commitments are underscored by its 25-year warranties; however, job seekers should be aware of customer complaints on warranty service and the 2024 PPP settlement as potential stability indicators (source: prevostlawfirm.com).

Job Description
Some safety programs run on fear. Ours runs on trust. If you'd rather earn a crew's respect than hand out write-ups, keep reading.
Freedom Power was born when Freedom Solar and Freedom HVAC joined forces to become Texas and Florida's complete whole-house energy company. We don't just install equipment. We hand homeowners the keys to something bigger: control over their energy, their bills, and their future. We call it Energy Empowerment, and it's not a tagline - it's the reason we show up every day.
As our Regional Safety & Training Coordinator, you're the road warrior who keeps every office, every jobsite, and every crew running safely - from residential rooftops to commercial installs. You'll set the standard by showing up, not by cracking down: leading JSAs and safety meetings, coaching crews through real conversations, and making sure the right equipment, training, and habits are in place before something goes wrong, not after.
Your Day-to-Day
- Set the standard and lead by example - a trusted partner on-site, not an enforcer.
- Serve as the safety and training subject matter expert for operational leadership.
- Develop and maintain safety policies and programs that keep us compliant with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Build and run safety training, including OSHA-mandated courses, and manage employee compliance.
- Lead and coach proper technique for Job Safety Analysis (JSA), crew meetings, weekly safety meetings, and safety stand-downs.
- Conduct job site observations and turn what you find into real, lasting changes.
- Coach and mentor through tough conversations when safety issues need to be corrected.
- Help build high-risk task Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) documents.
- Lead near-miss and incident investigations - data, interviews, findings, and follow-through.
- Provide emergency care evaluation and first aid when needed and manage return-to-work and restricted-duty cases.
- Own the safety equipment program - evaluation, recommendations, inventory, and issuance.
- Keep operational and safety leaders in the loop with daily communication.
- Lead fleet and driver safety efforts to reduce collisions and strengthen driver training.
What You Bring

- Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety preferred
- Valid driver's license with a clean, insurable motor vehicle record
- Willingness to travel 85% of the time, including overnight stays
- Expert knowledge of residential roofing, fall protection, ladder safety, and electrical safety
- Familiarity with aerial work platforms (boom/scissor lifts) and rigging
- Experience teaching First Aid/CPR, Defensive Driving, Fall Protection, or similar courses
- Comfortable with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook)
The Physical Side
- Able to conduct inspections and carry inspection equipment
- Comfortable with long stretches at a desk or in a vehicle, as well as climbing ladders to inspect roofs
- Able to lift up to 25 lbs

What's In It For You
- Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
- 100% Company-Sponsored Short-Term Disability
- 401(k) Employer Matching
- Weekly Pay Dates
- 3 Weeks PTO + 3 Sick Days
