We employ around 500 professionals who are active across Europe with offices in Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom to drive the energy transition together. Our role in Vattenfall is to maximize the value of the overall portfolio by optimizing and dispatching, hedging and sourcing for Vattenfall's sales and generation volumes. We serve as Vattenfall's single access to energy commodity markets and trade electricity, emissions, fuels, freight and renewable certificates.

In BA Markets, the independent Compliance & Operational Risk Management (COR) function supports and challenges the business by fostering a strong compliance and risk-aware culture. This is done by identifying, assessing, advising, controlling, monitoring and reporting on BA Markets' compliance risks. The scope of the COR function covers e.g. trading compliance, know-your-counterparty procedures, responsible sourcing and operational risk management.

As part of our team, you will gain valuable practical experience in an international energy company and receive unique insights into the dynamic world of energy trading, compliance and risk management. To ensure that our processes, documentation and systems remain up to date and fit for purpose, we are looking for a motivated student who enjoys analyzing information, connecting the dots and driving continuous improvement

What you will do

  • Review and update existing process descriptions, work instructions and related documentation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand current ways of working and ensure documentation is clear, consistent and user-friendly.
  • Identify gaps, inconsistencies and improvement opportunities in existing documentation, process flows and systems.
  • Support to improve the procedures and systems used to perform trade surveillance.

Qualifications

You are curious, structured and motivated to learn. You enjoy understanding how processes work, asking the right questions and turning complex information into clear and practical documentation. You appreciate being part of a supportive team and feel comfortable collaborating with different stakeholders.

We would like to get to know you if you...

  • are currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's programme in Business Administration, Economics, Industrial Engineering, Law, or a related field
  • have basic knowledge about laws and regulations in trading compliance
  • have a strong interest in Commodity/energy trading, e.g. understanding of price formation in auction & continuous markets, specifics of trading products, Exchange rules and general business processes
  • enjoy analyzing information, understanding how processes work and turning complex topics into clear and practical documentation
  • have sound statistical knowledge and ideally initial experience with data visualization (PowerBI)
  • are able to work independently and with a high level of integrity (you handle sensitive data with discretion and confidentiality)
  • are fluent in English, both written and spoken.
