Job Description

At Landis+Gyr, we don't just manage energy-we lead the transformation toward a smarter and more sustainable energy future.

With a net revenue of USD 1.73 billion in FY 2024, and a presence in over 30 countries across five continents, Landis+Gyr empowers utilities and consumers to optimize energy usage through advanced metering, grid-edge intelligence, and powerful data analytics.

Today, our global team of about 6,300 professionals is shaping the digital energy era-developing innovative technologies that support decarbonization, grid modernization, and real-time energy insights. Our record USD 4.6 billion order backlog and strong book-to-bill ratio reflect long-term confidence in our mission and solutions.

Join us at Landis+Gyr, where we manage energy better!

We are seeking a skilled Firmware Engineer to join our development team, working on next-generation smart gas flow metering devices. In this role, you will play a key part in transforming product requirements into robust, efficient embedded firmware running on a 32-bit microcontroller platform. This is a hands-on position, ideal for an engineer who enjoys working close to the hardware. You will be responsible for bringing up new boards from scratch, debugging at the hardware/software interface, and optimising firmware for ultra-low-power, battery-operated applications. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware, systems, and test engineers, to deliver high-quality, reliable products. A strong focus on performance, efficiency, and code quality is essential, as is a pragmatic approach to problem-solving in constrained environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop high quality embedded firmware for gas flow metering systems using 32 bit microcontrollers.
  • Design and develop user friendly Windows based support tools used for device configuration, diagnostics, data extraction, firmware updates, and production testing.
  • Interpret and implement requirements from Azure DevOps (ADO) work items into production ready code.
  • Perform bare metal bring up of new hardware platforms, including boot code, drivers, peripherals, and board diagnostics.
  • Optimise firmware for minimal power consumption, including sleep modes, peripheral gating, and efficient scheduling.
  • Collaborate with electronics, mechanical, and test engineers to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Participate in code reviews, design reviews, and continuous improvement of development processes.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and release notes.
  • Support verification, validation, and field testing activities.
  • Undertake any other duties that may arise from time to time.
  • Responsible for the adherence of Landis+Gyr's End User IT Security policy and Baseline IT Security policy. Report any IT related security incidents as outlined in the appropriate IT Security policy.

We value and encourage diversity in our team. This position is open to all qualified candidates regardless of gender, race, age, disability, sexual orientation, or background. We're committed to shaping a better future for everyone. #EnergizeYourCareer and join us on our journey towards a greener tomorrow.
