Job Description

Hitachi Energy Transformer Business Unit in Greater China operates across 55 cities, employs over 1,900 staff, and manages 5 transformer manufacturing plants. More than 90% of its sales come from locally manufactured products. We offer a comprehensive portfolio of Transformers Products, Solutions and Services. Transformers are essential in all electricity-related fields and applications, including power generation, transmission and distribution, oil, chemical and gas, industrial manufacturing, semiconductor and data centers, as well as building and transportation sectors.

How you'll make an impact

  1. You will lead the design and development of new tap changer products and accessories.
  2. You will create and maintain 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  3. You will develop innovative design solutions to improve performance, reliability, and cost competitiveness.
  4. You will conduct design reviews and ensure compliance with engineering standards and industry regulations.
  5. You will perform technical calculations, simulations, and engineering analyses.
  6. You will support prototype development and testing activities.
  7. You will analyze test results and implement design improvements.
  8. You will conduct root cause investigations and corrective actions for product issues.
  9. You will manage engineering changes and product updates throughout the product lifecycle.
  10. You will support maintenance of existing product platforms and legacy designs.
  11. You will drive cost reduction, value engineering, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  12. You will ensure documentation is accurate and maintained in PLM systems.
  13. You will work closely with manufacturing, sourcing, quality, service, and supply chain teams.
  14. You will collaborate with global R&D teams and external partners.
  15. You will support production and field issue resolution activities.
  16. You will participate in customer discussions and technical reviews when required.
  17. You will lead technical work packages within development projects.

Your background

  1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field experience.
  2. 8+ years of experience in product design and development.
  3. Experience with transformer components, tap changers, switchgear, or high-voltage products is highly desirable.
  4. Proven experience in electromechanical product development.
  5. Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles.
  6. Proficiency in CAD tools such as Creo, SolidWorks, CATIA, or NX.
  7. Experience with PLM systems and engineering change management.
  8. Understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and reliability engineering.
  9. Familiarity with IEC, IEEE, and transformer industry standards.
  10. Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
  11. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  12. Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  13. Ability to work effectively in global and cross-functional teams.
  14. Leadership and mentoring capabilities.
  15. Customer-focused mindset with attention to quality and safety.
