The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) System & Audit Program Engineer is responsible for developing, managing and validating the manufacturng plant EHS management systems, programs, procedues and audits. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing safety management system and audit programs, while also supporting EHS performance tracking through structured data analysis and performance.

Responsibilities

EHS System Management

  • Develop and implement a sound Safety Management System and EHS programs.
  • Monitor and improve site-wide EHS document control system, including policies, programs, procedures, SOPs, manuals, and records
  • Establish and maintain centralized document repositories (e.g. SharePoint or DMS platforms)
  • Translate technical inputs (engineering, operations, P&IDs) into usable field procedures
  • Support implementation of structured PSM, ISO-aligned frameworks, internal standards.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Operations and Maintenance) to ensure the effectiveness of programs and systems.
  • Drive continuous improvement of document workflows and system efficiency
  • Develop and maintain EHS data tracking systems and dashboards
  • Analyze trends to support risk identification and performance improvement initiatives
  • Ensure data consistency, accuracy, and traceability
  • Support development of training materials related to procedures and systems

Audit Programs and Readiness

  • Develop and manage the facility's EHS audits and assessment programs.
  • Plan, schedule, and lead EHS compliance audits
  • Prepare clear, concise audit reports indentifying gaps and operational risks, and develop corrective action plans.
  • Work with site and functional leaders to develop and implement corrective and preventive action plans.
  • Support regulatory inspections, customer audits and third party certifications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • 5 - 7 years of experience in EHS systems, including significant experience conducting or managing EHS audits.
  • Strong understanding of EHS management systems and compliance assurance.
  • Strong technical writing and document standardization skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certification such as CSP, CIH, CHMM, or equivalent
  • Experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems
  • Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor certification
  • Experience in manufacturing, chemical processing, energy, construction or other high-risk industrial environment
  • Experience implementing EHS audit software or compliance management systems.
