Founded2022
SizeApproximately 10-20 employees (source: gridfuse.com).
What They Do
Gridfuse GmbH is a software company specializing in the optimization of renewable energy. Their primary focus is on developing a Virtual Power Plant (VPP) software platform that aggregates and optimizes renewable energy sources such as wind and solar plants to ensure flexibility across markets and respond to market signals (source: gridfuse.com). The platform offers high-quality live data integration, enabling granular monitoring of energy production from plants and turbines. This promotes seamless integration of facilities and flexible bundling of multiple parks for unified control (source: gridfuse.com). Gridfuse targets operators of renewable facilities, energy traders, and grid operators in Germany and plans to expand into other countries, focusing on rapid integration that meets legal and commercial deadlines (source: gridfuse.com). By closely collaborating with SCADA providers and focusing on adaptable software, Gridfuse positions itself as a specialized provider in the competitive European renewable energy flexibility market (source: gridfuse.com).
Projects & Track Record
As Gridfuse was founded only in 2022, there are no specific completed projects documented in public records with names, locations, or capacities. However, the company focuses on supporting the operational management of renewable portfolios for ancillary services and market optimization (source: gridfuse.com). Ongoing activities include VPP implementations for the aggregation and control of wind and solar resources, with key contacts such as Kevin Thunert responsible for facility integration and Florian Sommer for product development (source: gridfuse.com). The company is positioned within the energy cluster in Leipzig but has not confirmed direct connections to other companies such as Leipziger Stadtwerke (source: leipzig.de).
Current Developments
No significant announcements, contracts won, acquisitions, or funding rounds have been found in the records over the past two years, which aligns with the early phase of the company and the lack of press releases (source: northdata.com). The company has not published any awards, certifications, or quantifiable milestones such as installed capacities (source: gridfuse.com).
Working There
Gridfuse offers positions primarily in software development, DevOps, product management, and technical operations. The team composition includes key roles such as Head of Development, Principal Product Manager, and several software and DevOps engineers (source: gridfuse.com). The company culture emphasizes flat hierarchies, trusting relationships, and the promotion of personal and team-oriented growth, leading to a dynamic startup atmosphere (source: gridfuse.com). Documented benefits include a mission-driven work environment, top-notch tools, and collaborative support, with the company being open to discussions about specific roles (source: gridfuse.com).

Job Description
The balance of power in the energy industry needs to change. The intermittency of renewable supply and the constant demands of the grid mean that we still rely on less efficient, more expensive and unsustainable fossil fuels to keep the lights on. At Gridfuse, our mission is to shift this balance through technology. To shift the balance of inputs, so that renewables become the world's main source of electricity.
At Gridfuse, we develop the software that controls real renewable energy assets and turns them into a coordinated Virtual Power Plant (VPP) that can respond intelligently to energy markets and grid conditions.
Your impact
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will build the systems that connects our platform to these assets and turn energy-market and grid requirements into real-world actions. Your code will influence when batteries charge or discharge, how renewable assets respond, and how reliably these assets can participate in the electricity system.
You will own and evolve core parts of the Control services, working closely with other software engineers and our renewable-energy experts.
The role
- Design and build distributed control systems that coordinate fleets of batteries, wind turbines and solar plants
- Translate complex energy-market and grid requirements into reliable software behaviour
- Build the services responsible for communicating with physical assets and processing their telemetry, status and capabilities
- Design systems that continue to behave predictably when devices fail, networks are unreliable, messages arrive late or assets become temporarily unavailable
- Build highly observable and resilient services that operate continuously in production
- Take your services from architecture and implementation through deployment, monitoring and operation
- Work closely with energy-market specialists to understand the problem and turn it into pragmatic technical solutions
- Make architectural and technical decisions that balance reliability, scalability, simplicity and delivery speed
- Mentor other engineers and raise the technical bar across the team
What we need from you
- You are a self-starter who enjoys working in a fast-paced startup environment
- You have several years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production backend systems
- You have experience designing and architecting distributed systems
- You have a "you build it, you run it" mindset and are familiar with Linux, Docker and Kubernetes
- You have strong backend experience with Go or another modern programming language (We primarily use Go, but prior Go experience is not required)
- Experience with asynchronous / event-driven systems. Experience with NATS, Kafka, RabbitMQ or MQTT is a plus
- Solid understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases; experience with InfluxDB or Timescale is a plus
- You communicate clearly and confidently in English
What we offer
- Competitive hardware including a standing desk, 4K curved screen, and MacBook Pro
- City center office location including home office option
- EGYM Wellpass membership support
- Educational budget for every employee
- Team events, summer & winter parties
- Real startup culture by having an impact in a small, motivated team
