Job Description
At LivGreen, we're passionate about creating sustainable, energy-efficient solutions that drive positive change. We are a leading provider of sustainable energy solutions, dedicated to improving homes' efficiency and environmental impact across the UK. We specialise in delivering high-quality retrofit services, helping properties meet modern energy standards through innovative and cost-effective solutions.
At LivGreen, we are committed to making a difference by supporting the transition to a greener future. Our team works with industry experts, local authorities, and homeowners to ensure that every project is carried out with precision, professionalism, and care.
Our Values
- Day one mindset: We employ individuals who put the customer first, prioritize dynamic decision making, and constantly strive to be better.
- Extreme ownership: We value accountability and have built a culture of problem-solving.
- Right from the start: We do it once and do it well, ensuring we are always delivering the highest possible standard for our clients.
About the Role
We are seeking an ambitious and commercially minded FP&A Analyst to join our growing Finance team, reporting directly to the FP&A Lead.
This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified ACA/ACCA accountant, ideally making their first move from practice into industry, who is looking to develop their commercial finance and business partnering experience.
The role will provide broad exposure across the business, working closely with the FP&A Lead, CFO, Financial Controller and operational teams. A key focus will be understanding the financial performance of individual projects and Business Units, ensuring that revenue, costs and project margins are accurately recognised and reported.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter, comfortable getting into the detail, challenging inconsistencies and building relationships outside of Finance. Over time, we expect the individual to develop into a trusted Finance Business Partner to our Business Unit leaders, providing insight into performance and helping operational teams make better commercial decisions.
This role would suit someone with strong accounting fundamentals and analytical skills who wants to move beyond traditional financial reporting and build a career in FP&A and commercial finance.
Key Responsibilities
Project & Business Unit Performance
- Take ownership of financial analysis and reporting across a portfolio of projects and Business Units.
- Work closely with operational and commercial teams to ensure revenue and costs are recognised accurately and in the correct accounting period.
- Review project performance, including revenue, direct costs, gross profit and margin, identifying and investigating variances against expectations.
- Develop a detailed understanding of project economics and the key operational and commercial drivers affecting profitability.
- Review project forecasts and expected whole of life margins, challenging assumptions where appropriate.
- Investigate unexpected movements in project profitability and work with operational teams to identify underlying causes.
- Ensure appropriate treatment of accruals, WIP, revenue recognition and other project-related accounting adjustments.
- Help develop consistent project reporting and margin analysis across the business.
FP&A, Forecasting & Budgeting
- Assist the FP&A Lead and CFO with the preparation of annual budgets, periodic forecasts and longer-term financial plans.
- Work with Business Unit leaders to develop robust revenue, cost and margin forecasts.
- Analyse actual performance against budget and forecast, identifying key variances, trends, risks and opportunities.
- Support the development and maintenance of financial models used for forecasting and business planning.
- Help improve the quality and accuracy of forecasting across individual projects and Business Units.
- Support scenario and sensitivity analysis to help management understand the potential financial impact of operational and commercial decisions.
Management Information & KPI Reporting
- Assist with the preparation of the monthly management reporting and KPI pack.
- Produce financial and operational KPI reporting at both project and Business Unit level.
- Provide clear commentary explaining performance against budget, forecast and prior periods.
- Identify emerging trends, risks and opportunities and ensure these are clearly communicated to the FP&A Lead and senior management.
- Help develop dashboards and reporting tools that provide management with greater visibility of project and Business Unit performance.
- Continuously look for opportunities to improve and automate management reporting.
Business Partnering
- Build strong working relationships with Business Unit leaders, Operations, Commercial and other non-finance stakeholders.
- Develop into a trusted Finance Business Partner who can provide meaningful financial insight and constructively challenge operational teams.
- Work with Business Unit leaders to understand the financial impact of operational decisions and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
- Support operational teams in understanding project margins, cost performance and financial KPIs.
- Translate financial information into clear, commercially relevant insights for non-finance stakeholders.
- Proactively identify and seek to resolve issues rather than waiting for them to emerge through month-end reporting.
Financial Control & Audit Support
- Work closely with the Financial Controller to ensure project accounting and management reporting are aligned with the underlying financial records.
- Provide supporting analysis and documentation for revenue recognition, project costs, WIP and project margin calculations.
- Assist the Financial Controller in responding to external audit queries relating to project revenue, costs and margins.
Skills & Experience Required
- Newly qualified ACA, ACCA or equivalent, ideally trained within an accountancy practice.
- Strong grounding in financial accounting and a good understanding of revenue and cost recognition principles.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyse and interpret large volumes of financial and operational data.
- Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines within a fast-paced environment.
- Commercially curious with a genuine interest in understanding how projects and Business Units generate revenue and profit.
- Experience auditing or working with project-based, construction, engineering, infrastructure, housing or similar businesses would be advantageous.
- Previous exposure to project accounting, WIP, revenue recognition or contract accounting would be beneficial but is not essential.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who:
- Is a self-starter who takes ownership rather than waiting to be given every task.
- Is intellectually curious and wants to understand why financial performance differs from expectations.
- Is comfortable getting into the detail and following issues through to resolution.
- Can challenge assumptions and inconsistencies in a constructive way.
- Has strong accounting fundamentals but wants to develop broader commercial and analytical skills.
- Can turn financial data into useful commercial insight.
- Is comfortable operating in a growing and evolving business where processes will continue to develop.
- Has the ambition and potential to develop into a Finance Business Partner and, longer term, progress within the FP&A function.
What We Offer
- An excellent first move from practice into industry for a newly qualified accountant.
- Direct exposure to the FP&A Lead, CFO and senior Business Unit leaders.
- The opportunity to develop from a technically strong accountant into a commercially focused FP&A and business partnering professional.
- Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, project profitability, KPI reporting and strategic financial planning.
- Significant involvement in the continued development of the company's FP&A and management reporting capability.
- Exposure to large-scale projects and commercial operations.
- Career development and progression opportunities within a growing Finance function.
- Competitive salary and benefits package.
