Are you ready to use your civil engineering knowledge to develop a circular building material? At GEOWALL, a Van Oord company and sustainable start-up, you will work on the further development of our paving stone made from dredged material. You will investigate its technical and material properties and explore how the product can be further optimised. Your research can help turn residual streams into valuable building materials and contribute to a more circular economy.

THE POSITION

As a graduation student within GEOWALL, you will investigate the technical and material properties of our paving stone made from dredged material. You will identify opportunities to further develop and optimise the product. Your research may include material analysis, literature research and practical testing. You will work with colleagues to translate your findings into practical recommendations.

YOUR IMPACT

Your research will contribute to the further development of a circular building material. You will help GEOWALL understand how the paving stone performs and where improvements are possible. You will:

  • Investigate the technical properties of the paving stone
  • Analyse its material properties and current composition
  • Identify opportunities for further development and optimisation
  • Conduct research and practical tests
  • Translate your findings into recommendations for further development

YOUR WORKPLACE

You will work in Rotterdam within GEOWALL, a Van Oord company developing circular products from dredged material and other residual streams. You will work with colleagues involved in product development and application. Your research brings civil engineering, material technology and sustainability together in a dynamic start-up environment.

ABOUT YOU

You are studying Civil Engineering, or another relevant study. We also welcome students from other educational backgrounds who have the right technical knowledge and motivation. In addition:

  • You are curious and enjoy investigating how materials and technical processes work
  • You like analysing research results and translating them into clear conclusions
  • You work in a structured way and can take responsibility for your own research
  • You enjoy working as part of a team and discussing your findings
