What They Do

Prowind GmbH is an owner-managed project developer and operator of renewable energy facilities, focusing primarily on wind energy, complemented by projects in solar energy, biogas, and battery storage (source: prowind.com). The company covers the entire value chain – from site acquisition and project development through financing and construction to the operation of completed plants (source: prowind.com). Prowind follows an "initiate, plan, build and operate" model, ensuring comprehensive project management (source: prowind.com). Their target groups include municipalities, landowners, farmers, and citizens, with a strong emphasis on regional development and citizen participation through lease income, investments, and direct electricity offers (source: prowind.com). The company highlights values such as regionality, partnership, transparency, and technical quality, developing projects where energy demand exists rather than pursuing a purely centralized supply model (source: prowind.com). Prowind is a medium-sized specialist developer with German roots and an international presence in Germany, the Netherlands, and Canada (source: linkedin.com).

Projects & Track Record

Prowind has an installed capacity of more than 300 MW and a total project capacity exceeding 600 MW, with over 360 MW successfully realized in Germany alone (source: prowind.com). The company has developed projects in several European countries and is active in Germany, the Netherlands, and Canada (source: prowind.com). A significant current project is the order of eight Nordex N175/6.X wind turbines with a total output of 54.4 MW in Germany scheduled for March 2026 (source: nordex-online.com). Additionally, Prowind continuously works on wind, solar, and biogas projects supported by local partners and stakeholders (source: vfl.de). The company describes itself as an active project developer for regional energy projects in its home region of Osnabrück for 25 years (source: prowind.com).

Recent Developments

In January 2025, Thomas Berens was appointed as a second managing director alongside Johannes Busmann at Prowind, officially announced on LinkedIn (source: linkedin.com). In June 2025, Prowind announced becoming an official team partner of VfL Osnabrück and expanding its presence in the VIP area of the Bremer Brücke stadium to strengthen its regional network (source: prowind.com). In March 2026, Nordex reported two orders from Prowind in Germany totaling 54.4 MW, highlighting ongoing wind turbine procurement (source: nordex-online.com).

Working There

Prowind offers diverse roles in project management, battery storage, and general renewable energy development, including specialized positions such as "Specialist / Project Manager Battery Storage" at the Osnabrück location (source: indeed.com). Departments include project development, permitting, construction, operations, strategy, and business development (source: linkedin.com). The company culture is regionally focused and collaborative, with close exchanges and partnerships with municipalities, farmers, and citizens. The Osnabrück office is part of a so-called "climate quarter," supporting its sustainable employer image (source: vfl.de).
