What They Do

Palmetto Clean Technology operates a digital-first consumer energy platform designed to help households adopt and manage clean energy and home electrification products through an integrated suite of software, financing, and partner services (source: linkedin.com). Their offerings include a consumer app, a marketplace connecting homeowners with local solar experts, LightReach solar and HVAC subscription services, and asset-management tools that streamline the clean energy adoption process (source: topworkplaces.com). Palmetto’s Clean Energy Operating Platform and Energy Intelligence recommendation algorithms support scaling solar deployment through a network of solar businesses and utility companies, covering more than 126 utilities and a service area exceeding 72 million households (source: palmetto.com). The company’s business model bridges B2B and direct-to-consumer markets by providing software-driven customer acquisition, financing options, and lifecycle support, while leveraging a decentralized partner network to reduce friction for both consumers and installers (source: techcrunch.com).

Projects & Track Record

Palmetto’s impact is demonstrated through its platform’s support of over 1 terawatt-hour of clean solar energy generation, which has helped avoid more than 740,000 tons of carbon emissions and powered upwards of 90,000 homes for a full year (source: linkedin.com). The company serves a customer base exceeding 500,000 households, reflecting significant market penetration in residential solar adoption (source: businessnc.com). In 2024, Palmetto restructured its solar installation operations by consolidating its solar fulfillment arm and transferring installation business to its subsidiary PlugPV, enhancing operational efficiency and scalability across its partner network (source: palmetto.com). Additionally, the company has engaged in a notable partnership to own and operate thousands of residential solar and battery systems in low-income communities in Puerto Rico, demonstrating commitment to expanding clean energy access in underserved areas (source: businessnc.com).

Recent Developments

In February 2026, Palmetto closed $250 million in investment tax credit sales with a Fortune 500 buyer, a strategic move to accelerate the delivery of solar and storage solutions as part of its capital-markets and clean-energy platform strategy (source: yahoo.com). Earlier, in May 2024, the company consolidated its solar fulfillment arm and transitioned its solar installation business to subsidiary PlugPV to better scale its clean-energy operating platform and support delivery through its extensive partner network (source: palmetto.com). Business North Carolina reported in early 2025 that Palmetto was actively raising capital, having secured $1.2 billion in 2024 and an additional $300 million in January 2025, with plans to raise another $500 million by March 31, reflecting rapid revenue growth and a customer base where approximately 80% signed on within the prior year (source: businessnc.com).

Working There

Palmetto’s workforce is primarily remote, with offices located in Charlotte and Charleston, supporting a distributed team across the United States (source: linkedin.com). The company actively hires for roles in revenue operations, accounting, finance, software, operations, customer support, asset management, partnerships, and sales enablement, reflecting a diverse range of functions that support its clean energy platform (source: linkedin.com). Palmetto emphasizes a mission-driven culture focused on making clean energy more accessible and affordable for homeowners, leveraging proprietary technology and financial products to enhance consumer experience (source: topworkplaces.com).
