Job description
Hypower is hiring Electrical Superintendents to lead field execution on solar and other energy projects. This is a traveling position with opportunities on projects across the country.
We are looking for field leaders who can plan work ahead, lead foremen and crews, hold people accountable, and deliver safe, productive, high-quality electrical installations. The Electrical Superintendent works closely with the Project Manager and project leadership and coordinates with mechanical, civil, and other trades where their work affects electrical construction.
What You'll Do
- Lead the daily execution of electrical construction, including workforce planning, crew assignments, subcontractor coordination, equipment needs, and material readiness.
- Develop and maintain three-week look-ahead plans. Identify constraints early and work with the Project Manager and project team to resolve them before they affect the crews.
- Set clear production goals for foremen and crews. Track progress, address underperformance, and adjust field plans as conditions change.
- Enforce Hypower's safety requirements and electrical safe work practices, including lockout/tagout, job hazard planning, and controls for testing and energization.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and installation requirements. Identify design conflicts and coordinate timely resolution.
- Oversee installation quality, inspections, testing readiness, punch list completion, as-built information, and electrical closeout.
- Maintain accurate daily reports covering manpower, production, deliveries, equipment, delays, site conditions, and issues requiring management attention.
- Lead field meetings and communicate clearly with the Project Manager, General or Project Superintendent, owner representatives, subcontractors, and other trades.
- Coach foremen and emerging field leaders. Set expectations, provide feedback, and build accountability throughout the electrical team.
- Protect project cost and schedule by monitoring labor productivity, documenting changes and impacts, and supporting the proper tracking of time-and-material work.
What You Bring
- Experience leading electrical construction on utility-scale or distributed-generation solar projects, or comparable large electrical or energy projects.
- Strong working knowledge of electrical installation methods, drawings, specifications, testing, and applicable code requirements.
- Demonstrated success leading multiple crews or subcontractors while managing safety, productivity, quality, and schedule.
- The ability to plan work in advance, recognize constraints, make sound field decisions, and escalate issues promptly.
- Strong communication, documentation, coaching, and accountability skills.
- OSHA 30 certification, or the ability to obtain it within a specified period after hire.
- Willingness to travel to assigned projects and work the hours required by project needs.
Experience with medium-voltage systems, solar collection systems, inverters, substations, commissioning, or mechanical installation coordination is preferred.
Working Conditions
This position requires regular work outdoors in changing weather and on active construction sites. It may involve walking uneven terrain, climbing ladders, accessing excavations where authorized, and wearing required personal protective equipment. Travel and overtime may be required based on project assignments.
Benefits
