About Kiwigrid

Company Overview

Name

Kiwigrid GmbH

Headquarters

Dresden, Germany

Founded

2011

Size

Approximately 160 employees, mainly based in Dresden and working remotely (source: linkedin.com)

What They Do

Kiwigrid develops cloud-based software and hardware solutions for managing decentralized energy systems, with a strong focus on home energy management, device connectivity, and market and grid optimization (source: kiwigrid.com). Their core product, KiwiOS X, forms the technical backbone of the platform, complemented by gateway products like Energy Manager VoyagerX and RailX, which connect various components such as photovoltaic systems, battery storage, wallboxes, heat pumps, and smart plugs across manufacturers (source: kiwigrid.com). Additionally, Kiwigrid offers "The Independent Home," a white-label solution for home energy management, as well as "The Transactive Grid," an API layer for market- and grid-optimized asset control and dynamic tariff integration (source: kiwigrid.com). These products enable partners to quickly implement tailored energy management applications and provide a modular, manufacturer-independent platform architecture that orchestrates heterogeneous hardware via standardized interfaces (source: kiwigrid.com).

Projects & Track Record

Kiwigrid focuses on customized solutions and partnerships rather than publishing extensive project lists. Their hardware and software solutions are tailored for diverse applications in the energy sector and offer a manufacturer-independent complete package for installers and end customers, including support and training (source: kiwigrid.com). The company follows a recurring service model with "Energy-as-a-Service" partnerships that foster long-term collaboration with system providers (source: kiwigrid.com). Active cooperation with retailers, installers, wholesalers, and market participants in the German grid sector, especially from Dresden, is evidenced by publicly advertised positions such as Key Account Manager for retailers and installers as well as Software Project Manager in renewable energies (source: kiwigrid.jobs.personio.de).

Recent Developments

Over the past two years, Kiwigrid has continuously expanded its product range, focusing on the further development of KiwiOS X, the Independent Home product line, the Energy Manager gateway products VoyagerX and RailX, as well as the Transactive Grid API (source: kiwigrid.com). In parallel, the portfolio for home energy management has been enhanced with manufacturer-independent integration and comprehensive support services (source: kiwigrid.com). Personnel development shows steady hiring activity in Dresden, with open positions in areas such as Site Reliability Engineering, Product Management, Technical Program Management, and Machine Learning (source: kiwigrid.jobs.personio.de). Additionally, flexible working models, mobile work, English courses, health management, and free beverages are offered as benefits (source: jobboerse.htw-dresden.de).

Working There

Kiwigrid employs professionals in software development, platform architecture, site reliability, technical program management, product management, technical consulting, key account management, marketing, as well as machine learning and data science (source: kiwigrid.jobs.personio.de). The workplaces are mainly located in Dresden, with hybrid and mobile working models widely adopted and remote collaboration supported (source: linkedin.com). The company offers permanent contracts, performance-based pay, flexible working hours, bright loft offices with standing desks, English courses, occupational health management, as well as fresh fruit and free specialty coffee as part of its corporate culture (source: datacareer.de).
