What they do
Solaria Energía y Medio Ambiente S.A. is a Spanish publicly traded company based in Madrid, specialising in energy infrastructure, originally focused on photovoltaic generation. Currently, its strategy combines utility-scale solar power, battery storage, electrical infrastructure, and energy supply for data centres (source: solariaenergia.com). The company develops, builds, owns, and operates large photovoltaic plants, increasingly integrated with energy storage systems and the necessary grid infrastructure for connection (source: solariaenergia.com). Its operational presence extends beyond Spain, including Italy, Portugal, Germany, and the United Kingdom, with a special focus on European data centre markets, where it links renewable generation, grid access, and self-consumption to meet the energy demand of these large consumers (source: solariaenergia.com). Additionally, Solaria is expanding its portfolio towards hybrid projects combining solar, battery storage, and in some cases wind power, enabling it to offer dispatchable energy infrastructure tailored to grid constraints (source: solariaenergia.com). Its client base includes wholesale electricity markets, corporate buyers under power purchase agreements (PPAs), large industrial and commercial users, as well as data centre developers and infrastructure (source: solariaenergia.com).
Projects and track record
Among Solaria's key projects in Spain by the end of 2025 is the 710 MW Garoña photovoltaic complex, which also includes environmental approval for 780 MWh of battery storage, positioning it as one of the company’s most significant solar-plus-storage developments (source: solariaenergia.com). Other notable projects include Catalonia (200 MW), Peralveche (150 MW), and Tucana (45 MW) (source: elperiodico.com). The Oliva Solar–Daganzo project, with 175 MW, is financed with up to €93.6 million from Banco Sabadell and includes 70 MW dedicated to self-consumption for a data centre in Guadalajara (source: solariaenergia.com). In Italy, Solaria is developing La Spina Solar, a 750 MW hybrid project pending environmental approval, with a portfolio including 856 MW photovoltaic, 800 MW in batteries, and 1,450 MW for data centres (source: solariaenergia.com). In Portugal, the 800 MW hybrid Casal da Valeira & Vale Pequeno project is ready for construction and under negotiation with grid operator REN, complemented by a portfolio of 474 MW photovoltaic, 230 MW storage, and 154 MW wind (source: solariaenergia.com). In Germany, the portfolio includes 516 MW solar and 250 MW for data centres, with plans to reach ready-to-build status for 200 MW in the first quarter of 2026 (source: solariaenergia.com). In the United Kingdom, the company has 450 MW of capacity in development for data centres (source: solariaenergia.com). For the first quarter of 2025, Solaria reported quarterly production of 372 GWh and projected to connect more than 3,000 MW by year-end, as well as deploy 500 MWh of battery storage in the following 12 months (source: solariaenergia.com).
Recent developments
In 2025, Solaria experienced rapid operational expansion, with revenues of €155 million in the first half, a 59% year-on-year increase, and net profit of €82 million, nearly double the previous year (source: elperiodico.com). Additionally, it secured project financing of up to €93.6 million from Banco Sabadell for 175 MW of photovoltaic capacity in Spain, including the Oliva Solar–Daganzo project and its self-consumption for a data centre (source: solariaenergia.com). In October 2025, it received environmental approval for 780 MWh of batteries at the Garoña solar complex (source: solariaenergia.com). It also scheduled a Capital Markets Day in London for November 2025 to present its "Solaria transformation plan", which includes its strategy for data centres and international expansion (source: solariaenergia.com). Commercially, it signed PPAs totalling 825 MW with Merlin Properties, Trafigura, and Repsol, reflecting growth in commercial origination, contract management, and energy market analysis (source: solariaenergia.com).
