About Otovo
Company Overview
Otovo ASA, a publicly listed company incorporated in Norway
HeadquartersOslo, Norway
Founded2015
SizeApproximately 200 employees following restructuring, with 244 employees reported at year-end 2024 (source: stockanalysis.com). Revenue of NOK 395 million in 2023 (source: investor.otovo.com).
What They Do
Otovo operates a digital marketplace focused on residential solar panel and battery installations, connecting homeowners with a network of vetted local installers across Europe. The company leverages proprietary software technology to analyze each home’s solar potential and runs an automated bidding process that allows customers to compare offers and select the best solution (source: inderes.dk). Its business model combines contracted subscription revenue with direct revenue from installations, emphasizing a platform approach rather than owning installation fleets (source: investor.otovo.com). Geographically, Otovo serves multiple European countries including Norway, Sweden, Poland, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, and the United Kingdom (source: finance.yahoo.com). The company’s product offerings encompass residential solar panels, battery storage solutions, and related home energy products, all installed by local partners coordinated through its platform (source: inderes.dk).
Projects & Track Record
Otovo’s platform has facilitated thousands of residential solar installations across Europe, with approximately 1,200 installations completed in Q4 2024 alone, generating NOK 163 million in revenue during that quarter (source: euronext.com). The company tracks its performance through metrics such as installed units, revenue generated, and contracted subscription revenue, which stood at NOK 930 million by the end of 2024 (source: euronext.com). Otovo’s marketplace model enables it to operate across multiple countries without owning installation fleets, positioning it as a software-driven originator of residential solar assets (source: investor.otovo.com).
Recent Developments
In 2024, Otovo executed a major restructuring program that reduced its workforce by approximately 200 positions and lowered payroll costs by 40% year over year, concentrating about 40% of its full-time employees in its Madrid hub (source: euronext.com). The company targeted cost savings of NOK 200–225 million through this program and reported FY 2024 EBITDA of minus NOK 317 million (source: mfn.se). By mid-2025, Otovo continued focusing on its core marketplace model with steady revenue streams and a leaner organizational structure (source: euronext.com).
Working There
Otovo offers roles primarily in commercial, engineering/product development, operations, finance, and corporate functions that support its digital marketplace and installer network. The company has shifted a significant portion of its workforce to Madrid, where nearly a third of employees were based by mid-2024, while maintaining Oslo as its corporate headquarters (source: euronext.com). Otovo’s culture is described as highly efficiency-focused, emphasizing cost reduction, organizational simplification, and operational concentration in key locations (source: euronext.com). The company also offers employee share purchase programs and management equity participation through share options, aligning employee incentives with company performance (source: euronext.com).
