Opdenergy is a well positioned player in the energy sector that prioritizes being an Independent Power Producer (IPP), with more than 15 years of experience and international presence, operating in 9 countries and more than 200 employees.

Due to our dynamic growth, we are expanding our team in Madrid and are currently looking for a SCADA Manager.

Main responsibilities

  • Participate in the creation and evolution of the SCADA strategy. Determine the general structure and functions of the system according to project requirements.
  • Responsible for deploying SCADA systems, including hardware and software installation and configuration. Integration with other automation systems to ensure different components work together. Follow relevant industry standards and specifications to ensure the design and operation of SCADA systems comply with regulations and safety standards.
  • Supervise system debugging and testing to ensure the SCADA system can accurately obtain and process real-time data.
  • Identify and resolve system integration and communication issues to ensure system stability and reliability.
  • Participate in the development of the company’s Center of Excellence and remote control, and engage in the entire process of designing, selecting, configuring, installing, and debugging relevant platforms, software, and hardware for the remote control center. Monitor key parameters and performance indicators.
  • Configure and maintain alarm systems to ensure timely detection and response to abnormal conditions.
  • Develop security policies to protect against potential cyberattacks and system failures. Ensure SCADA systems comply with relevant security standards and regulations.
  • Update SCADA systems to adapt to business needs and technological advances.
  • Analyze system performance, identify bottlenecks, and make optimization recommendations.
  • Adjust configurations to improve efficiency and scalability in response to changing system requirements.
  • Collaborate with departments to ensure SCADA systems work alongside other systems.
  • Provide support to operation teams (Construction, Grid, and O&M).
  • Review documentation to comply with security policies and company standards.

Job requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology Science in Engineering/Computer Science/Energy Technologies or a related field, or comparable with several years of work experience.
  • Work experience in the renewable energy sector (photovoltaic plants and wind farms).
  • Experience with application and infrastructure monitoring.
  • Experience in SCADA commissioning.
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems for acquisition, management, and analysis of process data from technological systems (SCADA, RTU, PLC, etc.).
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, OPC, DNP…).
  • Knowledge of communication systems (Satellite, Fiber Optic, Wiimax, etc.).
  • Third-level query process, reports, and supplier coordination.
  • Monitor the performance of various systems (updates, improvements).
  • Implement best practice security measures (ACLs, firewalls).
  • Preferably understand network topologies (routing, switching), WAN/LAN, VPN.
