Expected Length of Internship

  • Duration of Internship will be one Semesters (Summer)
  • As an internship company, we allow flexibility to enroll in classes while working as an intern, as long as it does not interfere with the essential functions of the position.

Experience

  • Basic knowledge of MS Excel and Power Point.
  • Basic programming experience recommended but not required.
  • Strain Measurements and Data Acquisition experience recommended but not required.

Education

  • Currently enrolled in BS electrical or mechanical engineering program required.
  • Must currently be enrolled in a Bachelors, Master’s or PhD program who is fulfilling a graduation requirement for their degree.
  • First Solar encourages all interns to register with their University.

Required Skills/Competencies

  • General electrical/electronic knowledge.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Self-directed, proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Strong organization skills.

Basic Internship Scope (Project)

  • Support new test and characterization equipment development projects consisting of concept development, specification development, experimentation, gauge R&R and data analysis and scripting.
  • Execute planned experiments and equipment qualification testing. Includes collecting, analyzing data and reporting results.
  • Assist with the different in-house and outdoors module reliability testing and activities.
  • Write work/test instructions.
  • Upon the completion of this internship, the intern is required to present their accomplishments and project summary to the leadership team.

Travel

  • No travel is required.

Estimated Hourly Range

  • $17.00 - $25.00 per hour

Manufacturing & Maintenance Physical Requirements

  • Will climb stairs on an occasional basis.
  • Will lift up to 51 pounds on an occasional basis, according to work instruction.
  • Will push or pull up to 27 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
  • 20/40 vision in each eye (with or without correction) and the ability to distinguish between red, yellow and green is required.
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
  • Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, cut resistant gloves, jackets, aprons &/or arm guards, safety glasses, hearing protection).
