The Automotive Electrification and Sustainable Energy BU's purpose is to engineer a decarbonized, cleaner, and a more sustainable electrified future. Developing solutions for the digitized grid, renewable energy generation, energy storage, EV charging infrastructure, smart meters and electrified vehicle powertrain, the group supports customers with break-through technology to convert, manage, and store electrical power. The transformation of the energy grid and the electrification of transportation continues to accelerate. We are looking to make several appointments to key positions within the group.
The Role
The Principal Engineer, Product Applications, will focus on providing innovative products and reference solutions for the fast-growing electric vehicle and energy markets. This market needs high voltage-high power converters using LLC, phase shift full bridge, and totem pole PFC topologies. Innovation in power topologies and inverter systems encouraged. The group is designing cutting-edge GaN and SiC power switch solutions to power these converters. The team consists of talented applications engineers with advanced degrees and published papers in power electronics.
Responsibilities
- Working on application circuits of high voltage, high power converters
- Performing thorough new product and system evaluations
- Technical writing, presentations, and trainings
- Supporting design-in activities at the system level
- Leading and managing both projects and teams
- Lead customer engagement activities associated with creating innovative new products
Required Skills
The ideal candidate will have the following requirements:
- MSEE or PHD
- 10+year experience with motor control systems, power converter (switching power supplies) designs
- Strong background in analog circuits, power electronics, and power systems.
- Interest in DC/DC and AC/DC power conversion systems and knowledge of power conversion topologies.
- Strong background in digital controller coding for power converters.
- Strong analytic skills along with power system modeling and control loop design.
- Familiar with circuit design/simulation tools and lab equipment.
- Good technical writing and presentation skills
- Must possess good communication skills and can work as a part of a multidisciplinary team
- As the job requires constant communication with customers, both domestic and international travel is expected (10%). For positions requiring access to technical data, Analog Devices, Inc. may have to obtain export licensing approval from the U.S. Department of Commerce - Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the U.S. Department of State - Directorate of Defense Trade Controls.
