Boralex has been providing renewable and affordable energy for over 30 years. The Group, composed of more than 800 employees, operates renewable assets with an installed capacity of over 3 GW and is developing a project portfolio of 6.8 GW in wind, solar, and energy storage.

We are seeking a candidate with experience in enterprise risk and/or risk quantification to contribute to Energy Trading Portfolio risk oversight and Project Risk Analysis across the project lifecycle, including cost risk analysis for Engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects. The incumbent will be able to work quickly and in partnership with risk owners in Regional Business Units (North America/Europe) and Corporate Function teams, while respecting the mandate of being part of an independent risk review function. In this newly created position, the Analyst/Senior Analyst - Portfolio & Project Risk Management will have many stimulating challenges, actively participate in the company's growth, work with teams on a global landscape and occupy a key position at Boralex.

You will play an important role in

  • Portfolio Risk Management

    • Oversee the Global Portfolio Risk Management Framework (PRMF) and risk limits.
    • Monitor and analyze risks within the company's global portfolio exposure.
    • Act as an independent reviewer and challenger for the Business Unit's Front and Middle Office teams.
    • Keep up to date with energy trading regulatory compliance and adjust risk management policies as necessary.
    • Develop and implement risk management strategies for the global portfolio and conduct portfolio stress testing and scenario analysis.
  • Project Risk Management

    • Advise project managers in the identification, assessment, management and mitigation strategies of risks associated with key projects.
    • Conduct cost risk analysis, including Monte Carlo risk quantification, to evaluate applicable CAPEX and project contingency estimates.
    • Review and challenge project risk registers for accuracy and completeness.
    • Collaborate with project managers to ensure seamless integration of risk management practices into project planning and execution.
  • Corporate Risk Reporting

    • Prepare comprehensive risk reports for the executive committee and board of directors.
    • Monitor and report on Risk Appetite Statement (RAS) risk limits.

To succeed in this position, you need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant certification (e.g., PRM, FRM, CFA, PMP) is an asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in risk management, risk quantification, portfolio risk management and/or project risk management.
  • Strong analytical skills, experience with risk assessment methodologies and data modeling.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of portfolio risk, energy sector and/or EPC industry is an asset.
  • Proficiency in risk quantification tools such as @RISK for Monte Carlo statistical modeling is an asset.
  • Proficiency in PowerBI is an asset.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Bilingual (English/French).
