Job Description
The Project Planning Manager is to ensure the successful planning, scheduling, and execution of construction projects by coordinating and optimizing the project timelines, resources, and risks. This role is critical in delivering projects on time, within scope, and within budget, while maintaining quality and compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The individual in this position will be responsible for developing, managing, and adjusting the project schedule as necessary and will work closely with various stakeholders to align planning efforts with project goals.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
To oversee and/or work on construction planning, scheduling and tracking of projects/deliverable using Primavera P6, Microsoft Project or any other planning/scheduling tools as follows:
- Obtain inputs from project team members, contractors, suppliers and client to support the development of a baseline schedule, and subsequently update schedule progress and forecasting.
- Maintain project baseline schedule, timely updating of project schedule, and analyze effects of any proposed changes/additional activities on the projects.
- Develop and maintain Resource Loaded Schedule and Progress Measurement System based on Construction Bill of Quantities, and Critical Path Method Schedule.
- Prepare and maintain S-curves, manpower histogram and commodity curves for reporting.
- Produce project progress reports and narratives on project status including the production of graphs, critical paths, risks tables, etc.
- Tracking and managing schedule interface.
- Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports based on site reporting matrix.
- Highlight potential delays and work with project team members and stakeholders to mitigate delay risks, including proposing recovery strategy and draft recovery schedule when required.
- Co-ordinate with Contracts, Procurement and Project teams on progress claims.
- To train site engineers and managers on construction planning, scheduling and tracking of projects/deliverable using Primavera P6, Microsoft Project or any other planning/scheduling tools.
- Any other duties as assigned from time to time.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Building Construction Management / Engineering / Architecture or equivalent.
- At least 8 years of relevant experience in the construction industry.
- Experience in planning and management of complex construction projects.
Skills, Competences and Preferred Characteristics
- Proficiency in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project is mandatory.
- Good understanding of procurement, engineering and construction sequence
- Ability to adapt to changes and work under pressure.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy in scheduling and reporting.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
