Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Associate, HSSE to champion and ensure the consistent implementation of our Integrated Management System (IMS) across operational sites and construction projects within Australia. In this pivotal role, you will support the Manager, HSSE in meeting Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) compliance assurance requirements, playing a key part in maintaining and enhancing our safety standards.

This role is based at our Brisbane office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote and champion IMS principles across all projects.
  • Contribute to developing and maintaining HSSE management systems, plans, policies and procedures.
  • Facilitate the tender evaluation process by reviewing and benchmarking contractor HSSE documentation against IMS and legislative requirements.
  • Conduct HSSE audits and inspections across operational sites and construction projects within Australia.
  • Prepare key HSSE reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual, etc.).
  • Provide HSSE support to project managers during development phases.
  • Ensure incident reporting requirements are met and contribute to the investigation process as required.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and facilitate HSSE training programs.
  • Engage in risk workshops, Project Risk Review, Safety in Design (SID), Hazard Operability (HAZOP), Hazard Identification (HAZID)
  • Review Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and task-specific risk assessments.
  • Facilitate business continuity planning for corporate, construction and operational sites.
  • Participate in monthly HSSE meetings with contractors and project teams.
  • Coordinate and assist internal teams to perform HSSE gap analysis.
  • Identify and report on identified areas of non-conformance

Education

  • Diploma or Certificate IV in WHS
  • Auditing Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Management Systems
  • ICAM Investigation

Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in OHS or WHS within the construction industry.

Skills

  • Comprehensive understanding of WHS legislation.
  • Knowledge of Environmental legislation.
  • Proficiency in reviewing, assessing and improving safety management systems documentation and training.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to engage with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented mindset with a passion for safety excellence.
  • Excellent time management skills with an ability to prioritise day-to-day activities.
