Job Description

The Associate, Contract Management will report to the Senior Manager ??? Contracts and Commercial (SMCC) and will be a valuable contributor to the Vena Energy Australia (VEA) business.

The role will support the SMCC through responsibility for managing and ensuing compliance with VEA key contracts (through the use and maintenance of obligations trackers), receiving, considering and issuing contractual notices, participating in contractor and counterparty meetings (including construction steering committees), working with and obtaining lender consents and approvals and assisting to resolve contractor issues, claims and disputes.

The role will also support the Construction, Operations, Legal and Investment team with contractual obligations and a broad range of other transactions and projects.

This position is located at our Brisbane office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, consider and advise on key contract notices for VEA.
  • Draft and issue key contract notices for VEA.
  • Prepare and maintain material obligations trackers for key VEA contracts and use these tools to monitor and ensure that the business complies with its contractual commitments (including Security, insurance, performance, lender reporting and ad hoc compliance).
  • Prepare requests for approval and manage queries from lenders under financing agreements and track responses from lenders until completion.
  • Attend contractor, counterparty and internal stakeholder meetings with the SMCC to follow up on actions arising from meetings.
  • Assist the SMCC with more complex project management matters, complex commercial agreements and contributing to the resolution of complex legal disputes.

Education

  • Business (Legal, Commercial) or project management qualification.
  • A Bachelor of Business, Law or Project Management would be desirable.

Experience

  • 3-5 years in a construction or project management function.
  • Experience working in a contract or commercial role in the energy or renewable energy sector.

Skills

  • Contract review skills.
  • Excel and project management software skills.
  • Compliance and/or corporate secretarial experience.
  • Strong communication (oral and writing skills).
  • Strong teamwork.
  • Work independently.
  • Industry interest and engagement.
  • Flexibility on work scope and willingness to take on new assignments and challenges, regardless of country and jurisdiction.
